Jagan dividing society along caste lines: TDP

-Cabinet used to discriminate against one caste: Ramaiah
-Ignored a caste despite its prominence since 1953

AMARAVATI: TDP politburo member Varla Ramaiah on Wednesday accused Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of using his Cabinet reshuffle to divide the AP society along caste, religion and community lines.

Ramaiah said Jagan Reddy has now committed an irreparable blunder by omitting from his latest Cabinet a politically dominant caste for which all Chief Ministers in the past gave proper representation.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader said CM Jagan gave a chance to an expert in abusive language in his previous Cabinet but now that community was totally set aside. He was used to target Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP with inappropriate language and later thrown out.

Ramaiah said ever since the formation of Andhra State in 1953, all Chief Ministers have accommodated this prominent caste. Some of the early Ministers from this caste were Neerukonda Rama Rao, Challapalli Raja, SBP Pattabhi Rama Rao, Kakani Venkata Ratnam and others. NTR and Chandrababu Naidu have served as Chief Ministers.

The TDP leader pointed out that Jagan Mohan Reddy was making a grave mistake by playing dangerous games with the sentiments of communities and social groups. The YSRCP was going to pay a very heavy penalty for disrespecting this community now. Jagan said he would change the whole Cabinet but what he did eventually was to remove this caste representation.

Ramaiah recalled that this particular caste found its place in the Cabinet of Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, Kotla Vijayabhasker Reddy, Marri Chenna Reddy, Nedurumilli Janardhan Reddy and YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

The TDP leader said while noted CMs gave respect to this community during their regimes, Jagan Reddy was trying to suppress them out of misplaced vengeance and hatred.
