TDP threatens people’s stir against J-brands

-CM should speak on ‘unpermitted chemicals’
-All liquor fatalities are ‘Govt murders’
-Nara Lokesh leads TDP rally outside Assembly

AMARAVATI: The TDP MLAs and MLCs on Wednesday vowed to continue their agitation both inside the Assembly and outside till the YCP Government stopped hazardous cheap liquor brands as well as illicit liquor.

The TDP lawmakers took out a protest rally led by party general secretary Nara Lokesh outside the House holding placards and raising slogans against the ongoing liquor deaths in the State. They said there were unpermitted chemicals in J-brands that were killing the people and destroying lakhs of families.

The Telugu Desam members held CM Jagan Mohan Reddy totally responsible for the liquor deaths, which were nothing but ‘Government murders’. For the sake of easy money and hundreds of crores of commissions, the Chief Minister was using benamis to manufacture and sell J-brands of poisonous liquor. Urea and ammonia present in liquor brands were causing drinkers to suffer from multiple organ failures.

Addressing a press conference along with MLCs later, Nara Lokesh said when they were fighting on behalf of the people, the ruling party members were using abusive language against them. The deputy chief minister had not tendered any apology in the House. The media clearly reported that the deputy CM had used unparliamentary words in his allegations yesterday.

MLCs Paruchuri Ashok Babu, G. Deepak Reddy, Bachula Arjunudu and others were also present. They described it as a ‘huge misfortune’ for the AP people to have an irresponsible and autocratic Government. CM Jagan Reddy was suppressing the voice of the opposition by using marshals in the Assembly and by using police outside the House.

The TDP lawmakers took strong objection to the house arrests of their party leaders all over just for trying to register their protest over lethal J-brands. The ruling party was not ready to debate illicit liquor and J-brands even for a minute in the House. Was the Chief Minister afraid that his benami liquor empire would get exposed if there were debates in the legislature?

At a separate press conference , TDP MLA and former minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said the CM had no respect for the lives and families of poor people. For the past seven days, the TDP has been asking for a debate on the Jangareddygudem liquor deaths but the ruling YCP was adamant and ruthless. Jagan Reddy was throwing all democratic norms to the winds.

The TDP members pointed out that their party had reached out to the victims’ families and provided financial assistance. Even then, the ruling YSRCP did not try to extend any help to the families of the liquor victims.
