Contractors not ready to take up works as lakhs of crores dues are pending clearance, says Lokesh
Nellore, July 2: Expressing concern that the condition of roads in the State is in a very bad, the TDP national general secretary, Mr Nara Lokesh, said here on Sunday contractors are not ready to take up the works as lakhs of crores of dues are pending clearance.
The villagers of Gundlapalem in Nellore (Rural) Assembly segment met Mr Lokesh during his ongoing Yuva Galam pada yatra on Sunday, and raised various local issues besides the very poor condition of the roads not only in their village but in their neighbouring areas also. Agreeing with the villagers, Mr Lokesh said that there is no one to bother about the poor condition of the roads in the State.
Though the State Government has been calling for tenders, the contractors are not ready to come forward as crores of rupees of their bills are pending clearance, Mr Lokesh said. Soon after the TDP is back in power all the pending bills will be cleared and the roads in the State will be reconstructed. Also, the Gundlapadu-Krishnapatnam Port road will be developed into four-lane highway, he said.
As Mr Lokesh’s pada yatra entered the Nellore (Rural) Assembly segment, he is given a warm reception by thousands of TDP leaders and activists under the leadership of Mr Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Kotamreddy Giridhar Reddy. Almost all of them walked along Mr Lokesh actively taking part in the Yuva Galam.
When the members of the BC community complained that whenever they raise any issues false cases are being foisted and they are being subjected to various kinds of harassment, Mr Lokesh said that the coming TDP government will enact a legislation for the safety and security of BCs. All the welfare schemes that are discontinued by this Government will be reintroduced, Mr Lokesh said.
The villagers of Aakuthota said that they do not have even a primary school in their area, Mr Lokesh said that with the wrong policies, the Chief Minister, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, is taking education far away from people. The coming TDP government will take all measures to set up schools in all the villages where there are no such institutions as education is the fundamental right of the people, Mr Nara Lokesh said.
