-Demands CM’s resignation for ’25 hooch deaths’
-YCP trying to cover hooch deaths like in Viveka murder
AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Monday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, owning moral responsibility for the death of 25 persons in Jangareddygudem hooch tragedy.
Lokesh slammed the CM and his party MLAs for trying to describe the illicit liquor deaths as ‘natural deaths’ just like how they tried to make Jagan Reddy’s uncle Vivekananda Reddy’s murder look like a fatal heart attack.
Addressing the media after the Council, Lokesh said the ‘guilty YSRCP’ members were unwilling to come for a full fledged debate on the Jangareddygudem hooch deaths in the House. The TDP members stuck to their demand for debate for over four hours but the ruling party was very adamant. Apparently, the YCP Government was running away from a meaningful discussion.
Nara Lokesh vowed that their party would continue its agitation till the victims’ families would get justice. TDP National President Chandrababu Naidu has called on the bereaved families. The TDP’s demands were that the Government should pay Rs. 25 lakh ex gratia to each family. A judicial or CBI investigation should be ordered to bring out the facts in the midst of the State Government’s cover up bid.
Lokesh said that during the Chandrababu regime, the excise revenue target was just Rs. 6,500 Cr. Now, CM Jagan Reddy was targetting an abnormal revenue of Rs. 22,000 Cr from liquor sales. Parallel to this, illicit liquor was flowing everywhere in the State. Doctors were saying more deaths would be there in Jangareddygudem due to multi-organ failure. The Jagan liquor policy was responsible for this human tragedy.
The TDP MLC expressed surprise how the ruling YSRCP Ministers could say ‘so casually’ that the hooch fatalities were just natural deaths. The TDP would do everything possible to hold the CM accountable for these deaths.
In a chit chat with the media later, Lokesh asserted that it was Jagan Reddy who carried out ‘funeral politics’ over the murder of his own uncle Vivekananda Reddy. Jagan Reddy began a signature collection to become the Chief Minister even while the search was still going on for the body of his father YSR. CM Jagan was brand ambassador for funeral politics.
Lokesh asserted that it was now clear that ‘abbai’ was responsible for the murder of ‘babai’ Viveka. The only question was which ‘abbai’ was behind this ruthless killing. The AP people would settle this issue if an opinion poll was conducted on whether Avinash or Jagan or Bharathi or all of them played a role in the murder.
