Lokesh asks CM to speak on ‘tribal girl death’

-Fever-stricken 10th class girl died on the road
-No proper treatment at PHC or Govt hospitals
-Residential school staff sent sick girl home

AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Wednesday held the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government’s all round failures responsible for the latest death of a 10th class tribal student at the Maredumilli residential school in East Godavari district.

Lokesh termed it as heart-wrenching that the girl student, Sumitra, died in the lap of her mother on the roadside in broad daylight. The tragic death of the tribal girl once again exposed the total collapse of all systems and departments under the Jagan Reddy regime.

In a statement here, the TDP MLC said that all medical facilities and institutions have gone into deep slumber leaving the common public to their fate. Can the Chief Minister bring back the precious life of this innocent girl now? The staff of the residential school could not even provide timely medical care when Sumitra fell ill with fever. The tribal girl belonged to Chekkawada village in Chavadikota panchayat.

Lokesh slammed the YCP rule for neglecting basic infrastructure like the schools and PHCs in the State. The staff of the Maredumilli residential school simply sent the ailing tribal girl to her home despite knowing her serious condition. Family members took her to Bodaluru PHC from where she was referred to Maredumilli and then to Rampachodavaram. Later, the girl was taken to Rajahmundry and, from there, to Kakinada Government Hospital.

Nara Lokesh termed it as inhuman that the girl could not get the required medical treatment at any of the Government hospitals. Without giving proper treatment, they just asked family members to take her home. It was enough to show how the conditions in Government hospitals have deteriorated to the lowest point.

The TDP MLC said the tribal girl succumbed on the road when family members were waiting for the bust to take her back home. The ward sachivalayam, tribal, education and health departments should be held responsible for this tragic death. The Chief Minister should now give an explanation why his Nadu Nedu multi-crore works could not save the life of an innocent tribal girl.

Nara Lokesh asked whether CM Jagan Reddy had any moral right to make huge claims about free healthcare under Arogyasri. The CM’s publicity advertisements on Arogyasri could not save Sumitra’s life either at Bodaluru PHC or at Kakinada General Hospital. What were Jagan Reddy’s ward volunteers and health secretaries when the tribal girl was fighting for her life?

Lokesh said that 104 new ambulance vehicles, which were flagged off by the CM, did not even make an effort to rescue Sumitra today. Even the vehicle, which was painted with the YCP blue colour, did not come to take the body of the girl to her village. Jagan Reddy would have to answer for all these failures and injustices.

The TDP MLC asked whether the YCP Government had a right to continue in power. They would use every chance to boast of winning 151 seats and 49 per cent vote share but they had no idea how to rescue the people in times of adversities. The helpless death of the tribal girl on the road revealed how the YCP rulers turned democracy into a mockery.
