Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Monday visited Mahboobia and Aliya government schools in Nampally and interacted with the students on the reopening day of schools across the state. She also distributed pens to students.
Speaking to the media, the minister said that the Telangana government had decided to introduce English as a medium of instruction in 26,000 government schools. She thanked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for benefitting lakhs of students belonging to the poor and middle class by introducing English medium in all government schools. On a pilot basis, amenities are being developed in four government schools, she added.
Sabitha further said that infrastructure like renovation of classrooms, fans, drinking water, and toilets with running water facility are being developed in government schools based on 12 parameters as part of the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi programme. “Parents are showing interest to admit their children in government schools with the introduction of English medium,” she mentioned.
