-YCP miscreants victimising women and girls: Sunitha
-YCP rules threw women welfare to winds
AMARAVATI: TDP anganwadi state president Achanta Sunitha accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government of throwing women safety and welfare to winds in total betrayal of its election promises.
Sunitha said the ruling YSRCP gangs were getting open patronage from CM Jagan Reddy for harassing and molesting women and girls in the State. The CM and his Ministers had no moral right to utter words like women welfare and women empowerment.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader demanded the Chief Minister’s explanation to the families of Naga Lakshmi and Boyapalem anganwadi workers who fell victims to the ruling YCP leaders. When would the CM do justice to them? The Minister for Women and Child Welfare had never come forward to rescue the victimised women.
Sunitha recalled how Jagan Mohan Reddy made anganwadi workers believe in his party manifesto and his padayatra promises. He promised to fulfill all their demands and to raise their salaries. After becoming the Chief Minister, Jagan Reddy started using the brutal police force to suppress anganwadis. When they were surrounding the collectorates for their demands, the CM was using police to harass them.
The TDP leader deplored that women of all sections were facing untold misery in the State. Mindless corruption was taking place even in the anganwadi meal programme. Poor children were suffering from hunger as a result. Poor quality eggs and milk were being supplied to play with the lives of children.
Sunitha said instead of coming to the rescue of children, the YCP Minister for Women and Child Welfare was bent on making false statements against the previous Chandrababu regime. The Minister did not even care to inspect the anganwadi centres when children fell ill due to poor quality food.
The TDP leader said the local YCP leader’s son induced and threatened an anganwadi worker at Boyapalem in Yadlapadu mandal. The ruling party was not only depriving anganwadi centres of good food but also making molestation attacks on workers.
Sunitha criticised the Chief Minister for protecting the interests of his party miscreants but not those of the victimised women. Minister Perni Nani’s follower Narasinga Rao has been harassing VOA Naga Lakshmi for a long time. She had complained to the District SP also. Due to lack of help and hope, she had committed suicide. The incident happened in Minister Perni Nani’s own assembly constituency.
The TDP leader deplored that over 1,500 rapes and murders took place on women and girls under the YSRCP rule. Can the Chief Minister tell the people whether his Government took action against anybody? Jagan Reddy remained unmoved even though many women lost their husbands in Jangareddygudem due to illicit liquor.
