-Rs 7000 Cr looted in Jagananna Colonies: Amarnath
-Demands sitting judge probe into one cent frauds
AMARAVATI: TDP former Minister N. Amarnath Reddy on Saturday advised Panchayat Raj Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy to stop his misinformation campaign against the previous TDP regime with regard to the NREGS works.
Amarnath Reddy demanded the Minister to explain why their Government could not prove any of its corruption charges against the TDP despite having power in the past three years. Peddireddy should check facts before making baseless allegations for deriving political mileage.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader dared the Minister to order for an inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into frauds that took place in the Jagananna Colonies all over the State. Multi-crore NREGS funds were looted in the name of leveling the sites and laying roads. In place of manual labour, machines were used overnight and false bills were claimed during the day.
Amarnath Reddy deplored that the funds meant for rural employment generation had eventually gone into the pockets of the ruling party MLAs and leaders. Could Peddireddy give correct accounts for the Rs. 26,000 Cr NREGS funds given by the Centre to AP in the past three years? How many roads were laid? Why could not 300 kms roads be laid despite being sanctioned?
The TDP leader asserted that the Central Government had taken control of spending the NREGS funds in AP because of rampant YCP corruption. Whereas, the previous TDP regime brought over 100 national awards by implementing programmes in an effective and transparent manner under the panchayat raj sector.
Amarnath Reddy reminded Peddireddy of records as proof for 24,000 kms of cement roads laid under NREGS during the 5-year term of the TDP. During this period, 14,000 kms of BT roads were laid, 38 lakh toilets were constructed and 21 lakh LED bulbs were arranged. Over 4,950 panchayat buildings were constructed. The Jagan Reddy rule did no such development but only started painting its party’s three colours to all buildings and even cremation grounds constructed during the TDP rule.
The TDP leader refuted the allegations about corruption in Neeru Chettu during the previous regime, saying thousands of tanks and check dams were constructed. As a result, the groundwater table rose by 3 to 3.5 meters. This was as per the records. The farmers reaped huge benefits as over 7 lakh acres were stabilised.
Amarnath Reddy accused the ruling YSRCP MLAs and leaders of looting over Rs. 7,000 Cr in the Jagananna Colonies. The YCP was undermining all systems including the audit section. If Peddireddy stood by his allegations, he should use his power to prove corruption during the TDP rule. The ruling party leaders had looted even the funds meant for rural coolies.
