CM doing injustice in poor housing schemes: Kalava
Govt should complete 3.5 lakh houses
AMARAVATI: TDP former Minister Kalava Srinivasulu on Tuesday asserted that no other chief minister has done so much injustice as YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did with regard to the poor people’s housing programme.
Srinivasulu demanded CM Jagan to explain why his Government has miserably failed to fulfill his grand promise of constructing 5 lakh houses per year. The CM and his Ministers should open their mouths on 15 lakh houses that should have been completed in the past three years.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader said that in his first review meeting itself, Jagan Reddy had ordered the stopping of over 6 lakh houses. The Chief Minister did not even have the minimum understanding that the ongoing programmes should be continued as part of good governance requirements.
Srinivasulu recalled how the 5 lakh houses programme per year was started on a grand scale. The ruling party Ministers, MPs and MLAs posed for photographs at the foundation stone laying ceremonies. Later, nobody bothered to take it forward. This negligence has only exposed the CM’s lack of commitment to the poor people’s housing programmes.Strongly objecting, Srinivasulu demanded that the Government should complete and hand over 3.5 lakh houses. The poor families had been given this option as per the guidelines issued by the Government.
The TDP leader said that the previous Government completed 10.05 lakh houses. Another 2.01 lakh out of the total 2.68 lakh TIDCO houses were completed. The Centre has confirmed this in reply to a BJP MP in the Parliament itself. The Chandrababu regime had also sanctioned 18 lakh houses which were also stopped by the YCP rule.
Srinivasulu deplored that Jagan Reddy promised many things during elections but after coming to power, he weakened all initiatives aimed at the financial empowerment, employment generation and permanent housing. The YCP regime constructed just 5 houses under PMAY in 2019-`20 and zero in 2020-`21. The CM obviously adopted a vindictive policy towards the poor families.
The TDP leader said that the Central Government has sanctioned 6.25 lakh houses as part of housing in urban development authorities areas in over 127 assembly constituencies in AP. These housing units were also not completed though they would get Central assistance.
Srinivasulu recalled how AP got many national awards in pucca housing initiatives during the Chandrababu regime. But, the YCP rulers smashed all chances for proper housing for poor families. Moreover, the YCP MLAs committed Rs. 4,500 Cr of frauds in the name of one cent house site for the poor beneficiaries. Sites were shown in hills, water bodies and low-lying areas but they were also not handed over.
