Will win Kamareddy with a thumping majority: Shabbir

Congress senior leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has made the biggest mistake of his political career by announcing to contest from Kamareddy constituency and he would face his biggest defeat in the next Assembly elections.

“I was born and brought up in Kamareddy. I’ve both won and lost from the Kamareddy seat and stayed with the people. Kamareddy is not only my home but my heart and soul. The fear of a defeat in Gajwel has brought KCR to Kamareddy. But he will suffer the worst defeat in his career,” Shabbir Ali said while addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan.

Shabbir Ali said that CM KCR did nothing for Kamareddy in the last nine years as the Chief Minister. He said the incumbent MLA Gampa Govardhan brought no development in Kamareddy and people were vexed with his non-performance. People had already decided to defeat Govardhan in the next elections. However, KCR, to overrule the public sentiment decided to venture into the Kamareddy. But he will meet the same fate as Govardhan and lose the next elections, he said.

“KCR’s decision to contest from both Gajwel and Kamareddy means that he knew that Gampa Govardhan won’t be able to defeat me in the next elections. However, by deciding to contest against me, KCR has not only targeted a ‘Kamareddy’s Bidda’, but also expressed his hatred towards Muslim leadership. “I played a significant role in bringing 4% Muslim reservation during the Congress regime. I was twice elected as a MLA and once as MLC and I was also the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council for almost 4 years. Since my victory in the coming elections from Kamareddy was certain, KCR entered Kamareddy to increase the chances of my defeat. But he will fail in this attempt and the people of Kamareddy will teach KCR the biggest lesson of his life,” he said.

“KCR began his career as a passport agent and became the Chief Minister. He will again go down to the same level,” he said.
