BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Thursday said that the people of Telangana will stand beside Chandrashekhar Azad in his demand to name the new Parliament Building after Dr BR Ambedkar and also to install his Statue in the Parliament premises.

The Bhim Army chief Chandrasekhar Azad, who is in the city for a two-day visit, paid a courtesy call to Kalvakuntla Kavitha. They had a meeting for about one hour. Both the leaders discussed their respective political policies and the programs being undertaken by the state government for the Bahujans and Dalits in Telangana. Azad had special praise for the State government’s ambitious scheme of Dalit Bandhu.

Later, both of them visited the 125 feet statue of Ambedkar near the Secretariat, where they paid floral tributes. They also paid tribute to the Telangana Martyrs at Amara Jyoti.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha thanked Chandrasekhar Azad who accepted the invitation and came on a two-day visit to visit the 125-feet statue of Ambedkar erected by the Telangana government and also to meet Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Kavitha said that she felt happy when Chandrasekhar Azad said that while everyone in the country were making people to forget the history, CM KCR was working to keep the history of Telangana forever. She made it clear that the people of Telangana will support Azad’s struggle for the backward communities and they will come together in such struggles.

She explained that KCR, who comes from the background of the movement, will work for the upliftment of the weaker sections like SCs, STs, BCs and minority communities. She announced that her party would work along with the like-minded people like Azad. We will stand by Azad’s demand to install a statue of Ambedkar in the Parliament premises and name the new Parliament building after Ambedkar.

KCR’s work for marginalized communities was laudable- Azad
Chandrasekhar Azad demanded that Ambedkar’s statue should be installed in the new Parliament. He said that few people had problems with Ambedkar before Independence and still these people have the same problem.

Chandrasekhar Azad welcomed BRS becoming a national party and wished BRS a success in the country. He recalled when he had protested in Delhi, BRS MPs came and supported him. He said that the Telangana state government’s efforts to uplift the people of the weaker sections were laudable. He said that he felt very happy on naming the new secretariat after Ambedkar.

He thanked the people of Telangana for showing so much love.
Stating that Manipur incident was the worst thing in the country, Chandrashekar Azad said that this should not happen to any woman in the country. He demanded the central government to intervene in this matter.
