Former Minister & Ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Saturday exhorted farmers to ‘gherao’ TRS leaders and their residences if the Rythu Bandhu payments do not get deposited in their accounts by June 28.
He was addressing the Congress Raithu Rachabanda programme in Bhagirathapalli, Isnapalli and Ragyatlapalli in Bhiknoor Mandal of Kamareddy district on Saturday.
Shabbir Ali slammed the State Government for the delay in the release of the Rythu Bandhu amount despite the beginning of the Kharif season. He said that the farmers have already started the Kharif operations following monsoon rainfall. He said that the delay in the release of the Rythu Bandhu amount was forcing the farmers to take loans on high interest from private money lenders. He warned that the Congress party would ‘gherao’ the TRS leaders and stage protests at their residences if the State Government failed to deposit the Rythu Bandhu amounts by June 28. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had no time to hold a review meeting on the Rythu Bandhu payments as he was spending his entire time launching a national party.
Shabbir Ali also condemned the BJP Govt at the Centre for using Central agencies like Enforcement Directorate against the opposition parties. He said that the BJP was attacking the democratically elected governments by purchasing the MLAs. He said that the BJP was responsible for the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra. He said that the BJP has no respect either for the opposition or for democracy.
The Congress leader said that the people of the country would teach the BJP a fitting lesson in the next elections. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Govt at the Centre has been trying to survive by inciting religious feelings and promoting communal hatred.
He also condemned the Agnipath scheme and said that the move would hurt the interest of the Indian armed forces. He said the short commissioned service was not in the interest of the nation as India needs regular and well-trained armed forces to fight the threats from China and Pakistan’s borders. He demanded that the Central and State Governments withdraw all the cases registered in connection with the protest against the Agnipath scheme.
Shabbir Ali said that the Congress party would ensure the welfare of farmers by implementing all the promises made in the Warangal Declaration which was unveiled by AICC leader Rahul Gandhi on May 6. He said that the farmers would get Rs. 2 lakh crop loan waiver in a single take besides getting input assistance of Rs. 15,000 per acre per annum if Congress is voted in power in the next elections. He said even tenant farmers would be eligible to get the input subsidy. He said Rs. 12,000 per annum would be given to the landless farm labourers who are registered with the NREGS.
