Vijayawada, November 8: Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswabhusan Harichandan paid rich tributes to Sri Pradyumna Bal, eminent Journalist, Political leader and founder of Pragatiwadi Newspaper, on his birth anniversary. Governor Sri Harichandan offered flowers to the portrait of Sri Pradyumna Bal and participated as Chief Guest in the birth anniversary celebrations held in Bhubaneswar, virtually from Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sri Harichandan said that he was happy to learn that the Pragatiwadi newspaper founded by Pradyumna Bal was also celebrating its 50th anniversary and said that Sri Pradyumna Bal and Pragatiwadi are not different and both are synonymous each other.
The Governor said Pradyumna Bal was a fearless speaker, a great personality, political leader, litterateur, columnist, editor and journalist and social activist who played a big role during the Emergency period. He said that even though they belonged to different political parties they both shared the same ideology and said that Pradyumna Bal through his newspaper articles highlighted the corruption in the government and proved that the pen was mightier than the sword.
Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, MLA and former Minister, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Govt. of Odisha, Birupakshya Tripathi, Executive Editor, Pragatiwadi, have participated in the programme held in Bhubaneswar. R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor and other officers have also attended the programme from Raj Bhavan.
