Police torturing innocent TDP activists, says Chandrababu

Peeleru (Annamayya dist), Jan 16: The TDP national president and former chief minister, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday strongly condemned the filing of false cases against the party activists in Punganur.

Mr Chandrababu Naidu visited the party activists who were lodged in the Peler sub-jail later told media persons that false cases are being registered against the TDP activists of Punganur Assembly segment, including seven persons belonging to Minority community and even an Ayyappa devotee. “Fake cases were filed even againat 21 year old boy, Mr Pathas Riyaz, who is studying Intermediate,” the TDP supremo said.

Eight persons were illegally taken into custody by just mentioning in the First Information Report (FIR) that only others. “Not only that, but also they are shifted to the poplice station and were subjected to torture and were prsented before the local magistrate,” Mr Chandrababu pointed out.

The arrested were threated with serious consequences if they admit before the magistrate that they are beaten up by the police, he said and asked whether there is any other terrorist activity worse than this. “Who gave the right to police to act in such manner,” Mr Chandrababu Naidu asked and made it clear that suitable action will be initiated against these police officials once the TDP is back in power.

Observing that Andhra Pradesh is now witnessing a State-sponsored terrorism, he questioned the police as to how they can behave like this and how many more illegal cases will be filed against the innocent persons. What the police officials were doing when the YSRCP workers damaged the flexies arranged to greet the TDP leader, Mr Challa Babu, on his birthday, he asked and questioned them whether they leave the TDP activists if they damage the YSRCP flexies.

Expressing surprise that the visits of the leaders Opposition parties are being obstructed in almost all parts of the State, Mr Chandrababu Naidu pointd out that the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, his wofe, Mrs Vijayamma and their daughter, Ms Sharmila too toured the State several times earlier. “This Chief Minister, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, when in the Opposition too undertook pada yatras but I never created any problem to them,” the TDP supremo stated.

Pointing out that the family members of one, Mr Abdul Salam, committed suicide unable to bear the police harassment, Mr Chandrababu Naidu said that he was forced to visit the jail to meet his party activists on the festival day. “This is the reason as to why all the people in the State want the psycho rule should go and cycle rule should come back,” he stated and made it clear that those who are torturing the innocent TDP activists will have to pay a heavy price soon.

How the Police Act 30 is being invoked wherever he visits, asked Mr Chandrababu and said that those who are violaing the provisions of the Constitution should be punished once the TDP is back in power.
