The former chief minister and TDP national president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday strongly condemned, what he called brutal attack, on the former corporator of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation,.Mr Chennupati Gandhi by suspected YSRCP activists.
After visiting Mr Gandhi, who is undergoing treatment at the LV Prasad Eye Hospital in Hyderabad, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, in a press note, released here said that the TDP will stand by the family members of the former corporator. Mr Chennupati Gandhi, who is seriously injured in an attack in Vijayawada on Sunday, has been shifted to the LV Prasad Eye Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment.
“The attack on the former corporator of the TDP is atrocious and a wicked act, resorted to by the YSRCP goondas. The State has never witnessed such barbaric acts,” Mr Chandrababu Naidu observed.
Since Mr Gandhi is an honest leader, he got elected thrice as corporator and taking the name of Mr Gandhi and Mr Bose reflects the family’s patriotism, the former chief minister
maintained. “Mr Chennupati Gandhi is such a leader who served the public staying in a hut and I am shocked to see the place where he is taking shelter being a public representative and I strongly condemn such vicious attack on a leader like him,” Mr Naidu stated.
The TDP national president said that Vijayawada, which was once known for violence, transformed into a peaceful city after he became the chief minister. But, after the YSRCP came to power in 2019, the city again started witnessing such violent activities, he observed.
Mr Naidu warned of serious consequences if the ruling party remains silent on such activities. After Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister, the the State has been witnessing brutal activities like murders, he added.
How the Police Commissioner can make such a statement that the attack on Mr Chennupati Gandhi was out of some emotion. “Will you react in the same manner if someone attacks you and damage your sight. It is nothing but indirectly supporting those indulged in the violence,” he felt.
The police officer, who should file an attempt-to-murder case against the accused is indirectly supporting them, he said and suspected the support of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy to
the attackers. Mr Chandrababu Naidu warned the State Government of serious consequences if such acts are repeated and said that the TDP will no longer tolerate such inhuman and undemocratic activities.
The time is not too far when the people will revolt against the ruling dispensation and the TDP too will firmly resist such sadistic tendencies of the YSRCP, Mr Chandrababu Naidu said. The TDP national president assured the family members of Mr Chennupati Gandhi that the TDP will always stand by them.
Recalling such recent attack on another TDP senior leader, Mr Pattabhiram, the former chief minister felt that if proper action has been initiated then, the latest incident would not have taken place.
The TDP Telangana State unit president, Mr Bakkina Narasimhulu, the party’s politburo members, Mr Ravula Chandra Sekhar Reddy and Mr TD Janardan and the MLC, Mr Mantena Satyanarayana Raju were among those who accompanied Mr Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to the LV Prasad Eye Hospital.
