Demands action against erring policemen
Amaravati Padayatra giving sleepless nights to Jagan
AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Thursday condemned the lathicharge on the farmers when they were going to Chadalawada in Naguluppalapadu mandal in Prakasam district to express their solidarity to Amaravati farmers’ Maha Padayatra.
Lokesh demanded that the Government take stringent action against the policemen responsible for the lathicharge on the peaceful protesters of the Amaravati Capital City struggle. The authorities should make available best medical treatment to those injured in the lathicharge.
In a statement here, Lokesh asserted that the Jagan Reddy Government was spending sleepless nights because of the Padayatra taken up by the Amaravati farmers from Nyayasthanam (High Court) to Devasthanam (Tirumala). The High Court has given permission for the walkathon but the present rulers were using the police to obstruct the Padayatra all along the way.
Nara Lokesh strongly objected to the hurdles being created by the ‘khakis’ for the farmers’ marathon Padayatra. Was it a crime on the part of the farmers in en route villages to come and extend their solidarity to Amaravati farmers? The police were committing serious violations by stopping even the mediapersons coming for coverage of the Maha Padayatra.
Lokesh strongly condemned the police for ‘obstructing’ Maha News MD Vamsi and other presspersons while they were on duty to cover the farmers’ 430-km Padayatra. The Jagan regime was not learning any lessons despite the growing resentment among the people towards its dictatorial policies.
