Lokesh slams CM and YCP MPs: steel plant

YSRCP not trying to prevent VSP privatisation
Steel plant agitators complete one year

AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Saturday strongly criticized CM Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party MPs for ‘failing’ to prevent the privatisation of the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP).

Lokesh termed it ‘unfortunate’ that the ruling YSRCP did not make minimum efforts to save the VSP, which has been seen as an undeniable right of Andhras.

In a statement here, Nara Lokesh extended his solidarity to the employees and workers whose agitation completed one year today. They have been unrelentingly continuing their protests against the move to hand over the Steel Plant assets to the private parties.

Lokesh recalled how the slogan ‘Visakha Ukku – Andhrula Hakku’ has remained a strong sentiment in every household in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP has been waging agitations against the privatisation from every corner in the State to Delhi. It has been raising its voice against injustice from the Assembly to the Parliament.

Nara Lokesh asserted that there would be no question of relenting on the VSP demand with due respect to the life sacrifices made by tens of agitators. The Steel Plant has been providing jobs to thousands of people.

Lokesh expressed confidence that the VSP would be saved eventually by foiling the ulterior plans being made by the ruling YSRCP leaders. It was deplorable that the Chief Minister and his party MPs had thrown up their hands in helplessness without making any efforts to prevent privatisation.
