Visits flood-hit mandals in Chittoor district
TDP will settle scores with YCP in people’s court
‘Will continue the fight despite attacks on my family’
Should farmers grow ganja in place of paddy?
SRIKALAHASTI (Chittoor district): On the second day of his visit to flood-hit areas, TDP National President and former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday described the breaches to the chain of water tanks and projects as a ‘man-made disaster’.
Naidu said the devastation to life and property was caused in Rayalaseema and Nellore districts due to mismanagement of water bodies and unchecked sand mafia. The Chief Minister was making ritualistic aerial surveys. If the CM would not make field visits, the Collectors, SPs and the official machinery would not be able to take up proper relief and rescue activities.
The TDP chief visited the affected areas in Yerpedu, Srikalahasti and other mandals in Chittoor district. He took a look at the photo gallery on crop losses, damages to roads and bridges. He also visited the collapsed Swarnamukhi bridge on the Papanaidupeta-Gudimallam road.
Addressing the local public during his tour, Chandrababu Naidu criticised the YSRCP MLAs and said: “They have launched personal attacks on my wife, NTR’s daughter. She never came out but they targetted her personality. Some are saying I am strong. Why am I depressed? I’m also human. I’m asking all of you whether you respond or not if your wife or sister is targetted.”
Naidu told the public that he was not given a mic in ‘Kuru Sabha’ (biased Assembly) to make a statement on the YSRCP’s personal abuses and brutal attacks. Hence, he had decided to take his fight to ‘Gaurava Sabha’ (respectable forum). The TDP would settle its political scores with the unjust and oppressive regime in the people’s court.
The TDP chief asserted that their party would not be terrified of the ruling YSRCP’s intimidatory tactics. They had attacked his house, vandalised TDP central office and humiliated and harassed party leaders and cadres. But, the TDP would continue its struggle on behalf of the people. The TDP would fight till the Government paid compensation to crop losses and ex gratia to flood victims.
Chandrababu Naidu asked the YSRCP rulers to advise whether the farmers should cultivate ganja if they should not go for paddy. Who gave them the power to say that paddy should not be grown? They have already attacked industries and chased industrialists out of the State. Where should farmers go if they attack agriculture also?
Decrying personal attacks, Naidu said he was not the kind of a leader who would be afraid of any such suppressive tactics. The extremists exploded 24 claymore mines but I was not frightened at all. “My experience is more than the age of this Chief Minister. I have faced and tackled many crisis situations over my 40 years career”.
Naidu called the Chief Minister an ‘opportunist’ going by how he reversed his stand on the abolition of AP Council to suit his political needs. Once again, the CM was saying a new bill would be brought for 3 Capitals. He was changing his decisions every minute on such important policies that would affect all the people. Even the Tughlaq ruler changed his decision on shifting Capital from Delhi to Deogiri only once in history.
