MLC KALVAKUNTLA KAVITHA EMBARKS ON A JOURNEY OF INSPIRATION AT THE AMBEDKAR MUSEUM IN LONDON

London — Today, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Kalvakuntla Kavitha commenced her two-day visit to London with a profound visit to the Ambedkar Museum, marking the beginning of an enriching exploration.

The Ambedkar Museum, a symbolic testament to the visionary Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, became the inaugural stop on MLC Kavitha’s itinerary. As she traversed through the exhibits, the resonating impact of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals on modern Indian democracy left an indelible impression on MLC Kavitha.

Expressing her views on the visit, MLC Kavitha stated, “Honoured to have visited the Ambedkar Museum in London, a place that echoes the visionary spirit of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. His ideals resonate deeply with the journey of Telangana’s statehood, a revolution, a journey close to our hearts. Ambedkar’s foresight in Article 3, ensuring the majority doesn’t drown out minority justice, paved the way for Telangana’s reality today.

Our leader KCR Garu had agitated for 14 years based on the principles of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in our state assembly constantly reminds us of the visionary leader who significantly shaped our democracy, Telangana State Secretariat is named in honour of his legacy and vision. Babasaheb’s 125th birth anniversary marked unveiling of 125 ft tall statue of him in Hyderabad.”

Ambedkar’s global influence, particularly in advocating for women’s rights, struck a chord with MLC Kavitha. She remarked, “Dr. Ambedkar’s advocacy for women’s rights transcended boundaries, shaping the very fabric of our democracy. As we celebrate the strides made, I am reminded of the ongoing journey towards achieving true gender equality. As we celebrate 75 years of independence, we acknowledge that women’s representation in Parliament is a mere 15%. Inspired by Ambedkar, I drew my inspiration from Babasaheb while advocating for the cause of women’s revolution, advocating for reservation. The recent law is a monumental step, and I foresee a future where 181 women transform our nation’s narrative.

Let’s continue to draw inspiration from his ideals as we strive for a more just and inclusive India. Together, we can turn dreams into reality.”

Upon her visit, the Joint Secretary of the Federation of Ambedkarite and Buddhist Organisations UK Pankaj Sham Kumar, addressed the gathering in honor of MLC Kalvakuntla’s visit and efforts towards strengthening Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideology, he said “I was very happy to know that when the formation of the Telangana state was happening then, in 2012, she (MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha)sat on a dharna demanding Baba Saheb’s statue in the Telangana assembly, and later when the state was formed that statue was installed. It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the Federation of Ambedkarite and Buddhist Organisations UK to welcome you. Personally, when I just read about your intentions and your causes for the upliftment of women, especially marginal people, it gave me confidence that Baba Saheb’s vision, some people are there to guide us.

And I’m sure with your guidance, we will be able to achieve this. Somebody who is championing the causes of the Ambedkarites, they are all welcome.”

This visit to the Ambedkar Museum lays the foundation for a broader discourse on social justice and equality. MLC Kavitha’s two-day itinerary includes engagements with the Indian diaspora, discussions on collaborative initiatives, and participation in events fostering cultural exchange between India and the United Kingdom.

Later in the day, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha will be addressing at the Bridge India event as a keynote speaker addressing the ideas of gender equality and inclusive democracy. UK politician Uday Nagaraju along with BRS party & Telangana Jagruthi members accompanied Kavitha at the museum
