-TDP rule gave more benefits to farmers: ex Minister
-Jagan advertisements aimed to cheat public
AMARAVATI: TDP former Minister S. Chandramohan Reddy on Wednesday accused the YSRCP Government of launching a false information campaign in order to cover up its betrayals to farmers in the past three years.
Chandramohan Reddy said that the Government was releasing full front page advertisements only to mislead the public in the face of rising resentment against the anti-farmers policies.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader pointed out that the Government has spent zero funds on mechanisation of agriculture for the past three years. Now, full page advertisements were given in the media, making false claims that over 3,800 tractors were given to the farmers. Once again, the farmers were betrayed in the name of ‘CM Jagan Yantra Seva’ programme held on Tuesday.
Chandramohan Reddy said that the Chief Minister pressed the button to flag off a huge number of tractors that were actually not newly given. Most of these tractors were already handed over to farmers over a period of time in the past. They were brought once again to make false claims on the Government support to farmers. The beneficiaries themselves said they received the tractors two years ago itself but they had to bring the tractors due to pressure from the officials.
The TDP leader said that during the Chandrababu regime, they used to give small and big sprayers and tarpaulin sheets. The TDP rule distributed 12,208 tractors under Rythu Ratham during 2017-`18. For this, the Chandrababu regime spent Rs. 202.60 Cr towards subsidy. Another 11,000 tractors were given in 2018-`19.
Chandramohan Reddy mocked the Chief Minister for bringing crop holiday instead of fulfilling his countless promises to the farmers. As there were no remunerative prices, the farmers were opting for crop holiday. A situation was prevailing wherein ‘anna datha’ (food producer) was afraid to cultivate crops. This was totally because of the continuing miserable failures of the Jagan Reddy regime.
The TDP leader pointed out that Jagan Reddy said goodbye to drip irrigation. The anti-farmer rule has also stopped the supply of micro nutrients. The Chandrababu rule brought a mega seed park in Kurnool to bring international companies but this prestigious project was also totally neglected.
