-Women will give CM brickbats not bouquets: Anitha
-Tughlaq plus Pulakesi equal to Jagan Reddy
AMARAVATI: TDP Telugu Mahila state president Vangalapudi Anitha on Wednesday asserted that the anganwadis would forever remember how Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy betrayed them by nor raising their salaries as per his election promise.
Anitha expressed surprise that when the anganwadi workers were agitating on the roads for a better deal, the CM was expecting them to do ‘ksheerabhishekams’ (milk purification) for him. What these betrayed workers were ready to do was giving brickbats to the Chief Minister but not bouquets.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader strongly objected to the misinformation campaign against the rightful demands of the agitating anganwadi and asha workers. The CM was misusing his wife Bharati Reddy’s Sakshi media to malign the women’s struggles.
Anitha warned that any injustice done to any sections of women in the State would not be tolerated any more. The women protesters would surround the Tadepalli palace if they were betrayed further. Jagan Reddy has become a synonym for betrayals and breach of trust.
The TDP leader demanded the Government to concede the justifiable demands of the anganwadi staff in the State. CM Jagan promised to raise salaries of anganwadis considerably but after coming to power, he hike the salaries by just Rs. 1,000. Moreover, the CM made false claims that his Government increased anganwadi salaries from Rs. 7,500 to Rs. 11,500.
Anitha recalled how the anganwadi salaries were increased to Rs. 10,500 by the Chandrababu Naidu government. The TDP regime had also issued a GO stating that the anganwadi teachers were eligible to become supervisors. Even this GO was set aside by the Jagan Reddy regime.
The TDP leader asked how the anganwadi workers could manage their families with just Rs. 11,500 salaries. The YSRCP regime was using their services for all sorts of Government related works. The meagre salaries were not enough due to increased taxes and rising prices.
Anitha demanded the Government to fulfill its promises and increase anganwadi salaries to Rs. 26,000. The women’s struggles would be intensified in the coming days if the CM continued to ignore their demands.
