-MLC demands Roja apology to AP people
-Selvamani call to avoid shootings condemnable
AMARAVATI: TDP MLC Manthena Satyanarayana Raju on Friday demanded that Tourism Minister R.K. Roja tender an unconditional apology to the people for her husband Selvamani damaging comments on Andhra Pradesh.
Satyanarayana Raju asked what moral right Selvamani had to call upon the film industry not to hold shootings in the AP State. What message was Roja’s wanting to send to the world on the prevailing situation in AP?
In a statement here, the TDP leader said Selvamani’s remarks clearly intended to harm the image of the State in the country and outside. While Roja was promising to develop tourism, her husband was passing negative statements. How could tourism get a boost without attracting film shootings and outside visitors?
Raju said that Roja was not able to restrain her own family members from making statements that were detrimental to the interests of the State. Could Roja do any justice to the people in her capacity as the Minister when she could not prevent her own husband from making anti-AP comments?
The TDP leader accused Minister Roja of preferring to visit other States rather than focusing on AP tourism development ever since she was taken into the Cabinet. She did not make a full-fledged visit to one single tourist spot in AP till now.
Raju said that Roja was solely interested in doing heavy make-up to make public appearances. If she gave at least one percent of this attention to tourism development, it would have yielded some results by now. From tourism to health to home, all sectors were destroyed because of the YSRCP Ministers’ failures.
The TDP MLC said that the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government had totally ignored the tourism sector in the past three years and did nothing even to preserve the existing facilities. Did Roja know how many tourist spots there were in the State? Has she held one single review on this at least once since taking charge as the Minister?
Raju expressed doubt that the YCP regime handed over the tourism ministry to Roja with the sole motive of eliminating the tourism sector from the State eventually.
