-CM Jagan incapable to complete lifeline project: Butchaiah
-New Minister bent on screaming and misinformation
AMARAVATI: TDP senior leader and MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary on Sunday urged the Central Government to take over the Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh in order to complete it at the earliest without further delay.
Butchaiah Chowdary stressed the need for the Central intervention as the AP Government under Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy could not complete even 3 percent works in the past three years.
Addressing a virtual press conference here, the TDP MLA said the new irrigation minister was also solely focused on misinformation campaign right from day one of his taking over. The whole country knew how CM Jagan Reddy had sabotaged the Polavaram lifeline project with his reverse tendering for the sake of commissions and corruption.
Butchaiah Chowdary asserted that Jagan Reddy’s inefficiency and greed led to the damage to the diaphragm wall at the dam. The CM drove away German company Bauer Group and also L&T. For this, he got the Peter commission to give a false report that irregularities took place during the TDP rule.
The TDP MLA said the new irrigation minister of AP was screaming at the opposition leaders and the media on the issue of damage to the diaphragm wall. The Minister apparently had no idea what exact damage was done. If Jagan Reddy continued the dam works without going for retendering, the present damage would have been avoided and the project would have been completed in time.
Butchaiah Chowdary said the Chandrababu regime acquired lands, gave compensation and completed 73 percent of Polavaram. But, Jagan Reddy sabotaged and delayed the project works at every step thereby causing severe losses to farmers not only in Rayalaseema but also in North Andhra.
The TDP MLA recalled how the CM went for reverse tendering despite objections raised by the Jal Shakti Ministry and the Central Water Commission (CWC) in the beginning itself. At least now, the Centre should intervene and take over Polavaram in the best interests of one and all. A glorious project was going to waste because of the narrow minded policies of Jagan Reddy.
Butchaiah Chowdary told the Centre that the Jagan Reddy rule promised to complete Polavaram by December 2020, then postponed it to December 2021 but could not complete even 3 percent of the work. Jagan Mohan Reddy has earned the image of being the country’s most corrupt and inefficient Chief Minister. Unless the Centre took over Polavaram works, the project would not be completed and the farmers would not get water supply.
