YCP MLAs, Ministers should apologise to women: Anitha
Doubts rising over a new land scamp in CRDA
AMARAVATI: Telugu Mahila State President Vangalapudi Anitha on Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy should pass a resolution in the State Assembly in favour of developing Amaravati as the one and only Capital City for Andhra Pradesh.
Anitha warned that the Amaravati agitation would further intensify beyond the control of the Government if the ruling YSRCP MLAs and Ministers continued their insults and humiliations. If the Chief Minister had even an ounce of Rayalaseema pride, he should fulfill his commitment made at the time of election to the development of Amaravati as the sole Capital.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader said the YCP MLAs and Ministers and the police should apologise to the Amaravati farmers and women for hurling ‘derogatory insults’ on them right from the beginning. These women continued to participate in the agitation, dharnas and now in ‘Maha Padayatra’ without succumbing to the suppressive pressure tactics of the present rulers.
Anitha recalled how the YCP MLAs described the Amaravati protesters as paid artists. They insulted women, saying that they were wearing costly sarees of Rs. 20,000 and not looking like farmers. The Capital city agitators were described as ‘paytm’ batch. But now, the same Amaravati agitators were getting roaring response to their ‘Nyayasthanam to Devasthanam Yatra’ from all over the State.
The TDP leader said the YSRCP leaders, from top to bottom, would always claim that their leader Jagan Reddy would never fail to stand by his word. In Telugu films, frequent dialogues would be used about Rayalaseema pride and straightforwardness. Jagan Reddy himself would say ‘Mata Thappanu, Madema Thippanu’ (won’t break my promise). Why was the CM breaking his promise on Amaravati after coming to power?
Anitha pointed out that CM Jagan said a good Capital should be developed in Amaravati region in over 30,000 acres before the elections. The Amaravati farmers had sacrificed 34,000 acres. But now, Jagan Reddy has changed his tune and trying to do unbearable injustice to them in the name of decentralisation.
The TDP leader said that doubts were rising over ulterior motives behind the withdrawal of the 3 Capitals Act and revival of the CRDA Act in the Assembly. People were talking about the YCP leaders preparing ground to commit another huge land scam in the CRDA region. Thousands of acres were already acquired in this area so as to get benefit once the prices would shoot after the restoration of CRDA Act.
Anitha asserted that the YCP would pay a heavy penalty for causing agony to the farmers who were food-givers and thereby richer than any industrialist in the country.
