CM launches Lakkasagaram Pump House

Done, (Kurnool Dist), Sept 19, 2023: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Inaugurated the Rs. 224.31 crore Lakkasagaram Lift Irrigation Pump House that would allow water to 77 irrigation tanks to cultivate 10,394 acres in Done, Aluru, Pathikonda and Panyam constituencies.

This allows supply of drinking and irrigation water from the main canal of Handri-Niva Sujala Sravanthi project, he said.

Addressing a huge public meeting here on Tuesday after switching on motors and unveiling the plaque at Lakkasagaram, the Chief Minister, who was on tour of the district, said that the project was totally neglected by the TDP regime during which foundation stones were laid for the sake of votes and abandoned by Chandraabu Naidu.

Describing his Government as farmer-friendly, he said that the Government had promised the constituency to transform as model one, he said he is fulfilling up this promise given during his Padayatra.

He said Government was aware of the value of water and Rayalaseema people’s difficulties and hence, the project was expedited in the last four years.

“While Chandrabu Naidu tried to hoodwink people with empty promises during his term, this Government only displayed sincerity and completed it on war footing,” he said, adding that the inaugurated canal will take 1.24TMCs of water to the dry and parched lands.

He said it was only during the last four years that the height of the irrigation projects like Gajuladinne and Sanjeevaiah Sagar project that would supply irrigation water to 24, 372 acres went up to 5 TMC from the 4.5 TMC capacity.

TDP never thought of this, he said, adding that Naidu only pursued the policy of plunder, stash and loiter when he ruled the State.

While the former Chief Minister Naidu allotted only Rs. 13crore on Handri-Niva during his term, his father allotted Rs. 6000crore for it and brought it to the final stage from which he took it forward and completed it, he said.

He said while his father increased the capacity of Pothireddy Padu Head Regulator to 44000 cusecs from 11,000, he has increased it to 80, 000 cusecs, he clarified, adding that Naidu never thought of this.

Lambasting Naidu for doing nothing to the people, the Chief Minister said he has so far spent Rs. 2, 35,000crore on DBT schemes benefiting lakhs of women and others in the last four years and pointed out Chandrababu failed to do so despite the budget being the same.

While accusing Naidu of eyeing public funds by following the same plunder, stash and loiter policy once again, as a responsible Chief Minister, he has filled up more than 53,000 vacancies in the Medical and Health Department in the last 50 months, he said, adding that Naidu has only launched a vicious campaign to discredit the Government for political gains.

“If you feel you have benefitted all these years through plethora of welfare measure, you become my soldiers and work for the victory of YSRCP in the next elections,” he called upon the people.

Finance Minister B. Rajendranath Reddy said in his address Naidu never cared to provide relief to the people of Pathikonda, Mantralayama and Done constituencies where drought prevailed for several years and asserted that Jagan Mohan Reddy is the only Chief Minister who thought of it and took measures.

Labour and Employment Minister G. Jayaram, Irrigation Minister A. Rambabu, Finance Minister B. Rajendranath Reddy, YSRCP MLAs S. Chakrapani Reddy, Sudhakar, Hafiz Khan, K. Rambhupal Reddy, T. Arth, other public representatives and senior officials welcomed the Chief Minister at Orvakallu airport.
