• This is the first time in history of Independent India that a chief minister who has completed 5 years has become CM again in UP.
• This is the first time in past 35 years that a party is able to form government consecutively for second time in UP.
• This is the first time ruling party has sought votes based on development and progress done.
• This is the first time in history of UP elections corruption and communal riots were not major issues.
• This is the first time people of UP have voted only for development, not based on caste or religion.
Rest vs BJP
UP elections garnered national wide interest. Most of political parties like All India Trinamool Congress Party (AITMC), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), etc. supported Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi party with the only intent to keep BJP out of power. Some of them went on to say BJP will lose ground in UP in upcoming elections and has to be uprooted. Akhilesh Yadav was not working in UP at ground level actively in last 5 years and became active only few months before assembly elections. Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) has not been active, cadre in a limbo and BSP supremo Mayawati was not considered a serious contender. Indian National Congress was clueless and aimless as usual in these elections. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could not make slightest impact on prospects of congress. Hence, Akhilesh Yadav was projected to be the main contender in the last 6 months. The real propaganda started a month before elections. Variety of theories were popularized that farm protests and anger in Jats, muslims, Yadavs and Bramhins over Yogi government will be responsible for defeat of BJP. It was widely falsely publicized that Akhilesh Yadav is choice of people of UP and he is giving tough competition to BJP. A propaganda was created to influence a section of voters of a particular community and caste to vote for Samajwadi Party. Not with standing such malicious campaign and strategy people of UP elected BJP government.
Why people voted for BJP?
The main reasons people preferred BJP.
• Modi Yogi Factor. Honesty, Patriotism, dedication and hard work are the common features between Modi and Yogi. Beyond doubt Uttar Pradesh witnessed a huge positive change in past 5 years of BJP government since 2017 under Modi Yogi duo.
• Law and Order- There is significant improvement in law-and-order situation. Yogi government with iron fist has dealt with gangsters. People, particularly women felt safer.
• Welfare measures- BJP government implemented very meticulously several welfare measures addressing the long-standing needs of poor. UP has 2.4 crore beneficiaries of PM kisan,1.5 crores of PM Ujwala, 7.8 crores of Jan Dhan accounts and 1.3 crores of Ayushman Bharath. 42 lakh houses were provided to poor. Nearly Rs.5 lakh crore was transferred to beneficiaries directly.
• Infrastructure- A huge emphasis was given to improve infrastructure and several long-standing projects were completed at a faster pace.
• Development – All the above measures changed the perception from “State of Goonda Raj” to “Investment Hub”. UP attracted over Rs.17.05 lakh crore investments in last 5 years. Ease of doing business improved from 17th position to 2nd.Economy now is second largest in country
• Covid management- Yogi government tackled well the crisis. The government ensured proper health care with appropriate utilization of resources. Ration of around Rs. 36000 crores were delivered to door step of poor.
• Honesty- This is the first-time government in UP world with utmost honesty uprooting corruption in all government activities
Why people rejected other parties?
Common features of SP, BSP, AIMIM and RLD are
• Dynast parties- All are family-based parties in which leader will be from one family only. Merit and hard work have no credit here.
• Caste based parties- These parties are based on a particular caste and they cater
• Corruption- All of these parties are corrupt to the core misusing government resources.
• Anti-Development- All these parties never even bothered about development or infrastructure in UP.
• People of UP did not believe in Mayawati led BSP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led Congress and Owaisi led AIMIM.
Anarchy under Samajwadi Party ruling
• The Yadav family, be it Mulayam Singh Yadav or Akhilesh Yadav, ruined UP on all fronts
• Law and order situation was worst under their ruling. Mafia and gangsters were given free hand. It was a fact that women could not move after 5 PM when Akhilesh Yadav was CM between 2013-2017. Some places were dangerous for both men and women.
• Infrastructure was left to ruins under their ruling.
• It was difficult to even think about investments in UP before 2017. Nearly, Rs.97000 crore worth investments could not materialize in UP under Akhilesh Yadav ruling.
• Corruption to the core was the hall mark feature in all aspects of governance.
• Insensitivity to real issues and grandiosity of self. Akhilesh Yadav government celebrated Safai festival involving movie stars leaving the problems of state.
The victory of truth
They reposed faith in Modi -Yogi duo led BJP government after seeing the visible positive change in terms of development, safety, self-esteem and National interests. They clearly realized the manipulative politics done by various political parties. They rejected appeasement, dynast and caste-based vote bank politics which were a norm for many opposition political parties since long time. Anarchy and Mafia Raj which prevailed till 2017 was definitely in minds of people when they voted and hence Samajwadi party was clearly ousted. The Truth is that the main aim of major political parties, media and political analysts in UP elections was to defeat BJP using all means and they worked accordingly. Malicious false vicious campaign was realized by people. People have voted cutting across caste and religious barriers. Women mainly rallied behind BJP government for the security and welfare provided by Yogi important. This is a change which was bound to happen and it will change the future course of Indian politics.
