BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shri GVL Narasimha Rao has been nominated to the Standing Committee on Finance for the year 2023-24. This appointment came into effect from 13 September, 2023.
Shri GVL Narasimha Rao has served as a Member of the Standing Committee on Finance since 2019. The Finance Committee scrutinises demands for grants of and bills pertaining to different departments of Ministries of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Planning, including Niti Aayog.
The Committee also reviews periodically the functiong of the banks, insurance companies, operation of Corporate Social Reponsibiloty (CSR) and functiong of regulatory agencies like the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), SEBI etc.
Shri Jayant Sinha, MP, Lok Sabha and former Union Minister of State for State has been appointed as Chairperson of the Committee by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
