TDP call to end ‘reverse rule’ in civic polls

Govt creating hype around achievement awards
Potti Sriramulu’s sacrifice undermined
Strategy meeting presided by Naidu
Supports Amaravati farmers’ Maha Padayatra
AMARAVATI: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), at its strategy committee meeting presided over by party National President and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday resolved to put an end to the reverse regime of the YSRCP by strongly opposing it in the civic body elections.
The TDP called upon its cadres to make every effort to get its candidates elected in the elections to the 13 municipalities and municipal corporations for which the notification has been released. The voters should rise and revolt against the ruling YSRCP without succumbing to its temptations and intimidations. There would be safety to the people only when the oppressive regime would be defeated.
The TDP leaders extended total support to the Maha Padayatra undertaken by the Amaravati farmers from ‘Nyayasthanam to Devasthanam’. The People’s Capital had the potential to create robust economic development for all the 13 districts in the State and job opportunities for the youth. Jagan Reddy has turned a Rs. 2 lakh crore worth public asset into a non-performing asset.
Decrying the Government’s ‘lopsided priorities’, the TDP slammed the Jagan regime for creating much hype in the name of achievement awards without giving any importance to State formation day celebrations. It was atrocious not to remember the sacrifices of Potti Sriramulu whose sacrifice made the linguistic states a reality.
The Telugu Desam leaders said that the Government made a counter attack on the TDP leaders but eventually it came down and admitted illegal ganja and drug trade going on in the State. At that time, false cases were filed against the TDP leaders for exposing drug mafia. Now, all SPs were saying they would place a focus on drugs and ganja. The BBC itself said ganja was not seized on a massive scale ever before in the State.
The TDP criticised that the YSRCP came to power promising total prohibition but now their own liquor brands were introduced to spoil the people’s health. The women’s mangal sutras were being mortgaged due to high cost and unhealthy liquor brands. The Government promised strong measures but taking just eye-wash steps against heroin gangs. The people should fight against the YSRCP drug mafia and strive for a drugs-free AP.
The TDP leaders recalled how philanthropists donated liberally for setting up aided educational institutions for the golden future of students. Now, Jagan Reddy was trying to loot the prime lands and properties of the aided institutions. The TDP would restore the aided system after coming to power. The Chief Minister should lead an all party delegation to Delhi to oppose the privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant.
The Telugu Desam leaders demanded an enquiry into the Rs. 4,000 Cr rice scam in order to nab and punish the guilty. Farmers were suffering as the Government and millers were not purchasing harvest. Some millers were cheating farmers by using false bank guarantees. Enquiry should be launched into the role of one minister in all this. The Jagan policies were responsible for AP standing in 3rd place in farmers suicides and in 2nd place in tenant farmers suicides.
The TDP asserted that it would continue its agitation till AP reduced the VAT and cess on petrol and diesel to bring the rates on a par with other southern States. The prices of fuels, gas and essential commodities rose beyond the capacity of the general public.
The TDP leaders said that the Government was conferred with sovereign powers under Article 361. Civil and criminal cases cannot be filed against such a person. But, the Governor’s name was included in the bank guarantee agreements in which it was said that the Governor’s sovereign right would be waived. This was nothing but sedition and a constitutional violation.
