TDP decries Minister’s ‘anti-media’ remarks

-Media role not to worship CM, says Kalva
-Minister should apologise to media

AMARAVATI: TDP former Minister Kalva Srinivasulu on Tuesday accused Information Minister Chelluboyina Venugopala Krishna of hurting the sentiments of the journalists in the State.

Srinivasulu strongly objected to the Minister advising the media persons to worship Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy if they wanted to get house sites.

In a statement here, the TDP leader termed it as ‘bankrupt’ on the part of Venugopala Krishna to pass humiliating comments against the journalists as a whole. This was a democracy but not a dictatorship to worship the Chief Minister like a modern Nero Emperor.

Srinivasulu advised Venugopala Krishna to open his eyes and see that the AP people were living in a democratic system but not autocracy. Ever since the YCP came to power, the journalists were facing many challenges in their day to day duties. There was no atmosphere in the State to write stories on atrocities and offences without fear.

The TDP leader stressed the need for the media to overcome the ruling party’s threats and assume a greater responsibility in the civil society. The Minister should say open apology to the journalists. The ruling party should be satisfied with the fact that they got the Cabinet to worship Jagan Reddy.
