-1,500 atrocities on women in 3 years, says Anitha
-AP standing 2nd in women trafficking in country
AMARAVATI: TDP Telugu Mahila state president Vangalapudi Anitha on Monday asserted that the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government had no moral right to hold the Women’s Day celebrations considering its total failure to prevent atrocities against women.
Anitha blamed the YSRCP’s ‘inefficient’ regime for the AP State standing in 2nd position in the trafficking of women in the country. The details from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) were presenting an alarming picture of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader advised the police associations to fight against the Government’s humiliations instead of making baseless allegations against the TDP. The YCP MPs, MLAs and leaders had openly made abusive remarks against the police but no action has been taken against them till now.
Anitha said she was greatly alarmed at the male tailors assigned to take measurements for stitching uniforms for the policewomen. In that issue, she just asked whether the police officers would not take any action if the same humiliation was caused to their family members. The associations were trying to make it a big issue while not even making any statement on the countless abuses inflicted by the YSRCP leaders.
The TDP leader expressed surprise over the manner in which the police were committing multiple constitutional violations in order to help the ruling YSRCP leaders. Instead of acting against those responsible for the male tailors incident, the officers were asking questions about who made those videos and who leaked them. The police took a false complaint that a tribal woman was raped in the aftermath of the TDP leaders visit to a quarry in Sarvepalli in Nellore district.
Anitha deplored that the Chief Minister was only interested in deriving political advantage out of the Disha bill but not in the real protection of women. Over 1,500 atrocities were committed on women and girls in the past three years but no action was taken so far. No action was taken against the culprits in the molestation of a girl near the Chief Minister’s Tadepalli residence itself.
The TDP leader said that the accused persons in atrocities cases were freely roaming outside while the victims were shivering with fear of being attacked again. A B.Tech girl was killed in broad daylight on the independence day itself in Guntur. One Anusha was brutally murdered in Narasaraopet. Sneha Latha was eliminated in Anantapur. The Government had not taken any deterrent action in all these cases.
