‘Attack on Naidu house’

TDP cadres write to President, PM, Governor
Take action and restore democracy in AP
TDP leaders post signed letters to President, PM, Governor
AMARAVATI: The leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from all over the State on Wednesday posted letters to the President, the Prime Minister and the AP Governor, urging them to intervene and take action against the culprits responsible for the attack on former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s residence and the TDP leaders in Amaravati Capital city.
The TDP leaders stressed the need for restoration of democracy in Andhra Pradesh by preventing the ruling YSRCP leaders, MLAs and their hired goons from suppressing the opposition parties. The oppression of Jagan Reddy’s ‘Jungle Raj’ reached a peak on September 17, 2021, when an undemocratic attack was lauched on the TDP chief’s house and the TDP leaders were injured.
The TDP cadres and leaders all over the State passed resolutions and sent the signed letters by post to the President, the PM and the Governor. All sections of AP society came under attack ever since Jaganmohan Reddy became the Chief Minister. Atrocities and attacks were on the rise on the Dalits. The properties of the tribals were being looted. Women were facing harassment and atrocities. The Minorities and the Backward Classes were being humiliated and victimised.
In their letters, the TDP activists pointed out how the opposition parties’ leaders were being subjected to false arrests, physical attacks and house arrests. Mental torture and fabricated cases became a routine. Threats and intimidation were on the rise from the ruling party leaders everywhere. It was under the direction of CM Jaganmohan Reddy only that YSRCP MLA Jogi Ramesh and their party hired goons attacked Chandrababu Naidu’s residence. It was a black day for the country’s democracy.
The TDP leaders told the President that Jogi Ramesh gave a warning to attack Naidu’s house a day in advance. The whole state came to know about this through the media. But the police did not take any advance measures to prevent the MLA and his goons from going near the Opposition Leader’s house. On the other side, the DIG gave all support to the MLA and the attackers.
Condemning the AP Government’s ‘undemocratic activities’, the TDP leaders said that the police were detaining and placing the opposition leaders under house arrest though they were holding protests over public issues peacefully. The opposition parties were not even allowed to hold dharnas to register their protest. The police were making preventive arrests. In almost all instances, the police were not taking any preventive action even though they got prior information about violence by the ruling YSRCP leaders.
The TDP leaders recalled how Jogi Ramesh had publicly stated that the Chief Minister and the DGP had given their support to his attack on Naidu’s house. It was clear from this that the CM and the DGP were behind the attack. The DGP should be recalled. There should be no place in a democracy to carry out attacks with impunity on the Opposition Leader’s house. When such incidents happen, stringent action should be taken against the hired goondas and the ruling party leaders in order to restore people’s faith in democracy and law and order.
