The State president of the woman wing of the TDP, Mrs Vangalapudi Anitha dared the State Director General of Police (DGP) to order for an inquiry into the complaint lodged by the State Mahila Commission chairperson, Mrs Vasireddy Padma.
Mrs Vangalapudi Anitha told media persons at the State TDP headquarters here that Mrs Vasireddy Padma, being the chairperson of the State Mahila Commission, lodged a complaint with none other than the DGP on a post in the social media against Mrs Bharathi, the wife of the Chief Minister, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy. It is nothing but degrading the status of the Mahila Commission and bowing down before the State police head, the TDP leader felt.
In fact, when Mrs Vasireddy Padma is going to meet the DGP, everyone thought that she will raise the problems being faced by the women in the State. She totally disappointed the whole woman community, the TDP leader stated.
A YSRCP activist resorted to sexual harrasment against a six-year old girl and the Mahila Commission chairperson did not raise this issue before the DGP, Mrs Vangalapudi Anitha pointed out. According to the report of the National Crime Records, atrocities against women in the State is very high and at least 17,000 women fell victim to this kind of molestation, she stated.
When the Mahila Commission chairperson met the DGP, the women in the State expected that she will certainly raise the matter before him. Is it not shameful that she did not make any complaint on these issues but only pointed out the trivial issue of some posts on the Chief Minister’s wife, the TDP leader said. The Mahila Commission chairperson, who should discharge her duties above any political considerations, is unethically supporting a particular political outfit, she maintained.
Why Mrs Vasireddy Padma failed to lodge a complaint jni against a YSRCP MLA and former minister, who used highly objectionable language against women, she asked. Why is she silent when some highly objectionable comments were made against Mrs Bhuvaneswari, the daughter of the late NT Rama Rao, she questioned. When the former minister, Mr Kodali Naani, made some offensive remarks against women, Mrs Padma did not respond though several women in different parts of the State approached the police, she stated.
“We will not remain silent if such situation continues and the prestige of women is degraded. The ruling party leaders, including the Chief Minister, do not dare to face the public without tight security,” the TDP leader stated.
The day is not too far when the women in the State firmly resist the ruling party leaders from moving out and dared the woman leaders of the YSRCP to come for an open debate right in front of the DGP office.
