Chairman of SBI handed over a cheque of ₹1.50 cr to Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital

Chairman of State Bank of India, Shri Dinesh Khara was on a short visit today to Hyderabad Circle (Telangana State) in connection with official meeting. In an event organized by the Bank at their Local Head Office, Hyderabad,  Shri Dinesh Khara, handed over a cheque of ₹1.50 crore to Basavatarakam- Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, for setting up of “Mobile Cancer Screening Unit” equipped with cancer diagnostic medical equipments.
State Bank of India, Hyderabad Circle has been undertaking CSR initiatives with a vision to improve the socio-economic well-being of the society, particularly of the less fortunate and under-privileged members of the society and enable them to live up to their  potential.
Shri Dinesh Khara emphasised that the CSR activity is a noble cause and as a Responsible Corporate Citizen, we feel that it is our moral duty to ensure that we do something meaningful for the society. The importance of health could not be appreciated more than in the current day & age,  as during the last 18 months the entire society across the globe has faced the severe health & hygiene challenges. He added that a large part of the population has also experienced the importance of getting timely aid.
Shri Khara highlighted that Cancer is growing like anything and for country like India; the spending on healthcare has been nearly one percent of the GDP.  Last year when we faced huge challenges on account of health & hygiene, the allocation got increased to 2 percent and there has been a need for increasing the support to this kind of services.
On this occasion, Shri Khara recollected that the Hospital has been the brain child of
the visionary leader, Late Sri.  N T Rama Rao, former Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh. The vision has taken shape in a very meaningful way and today the Basavatarakam Indo American hospital is spreading its reach to a large population through its outreach programme for ensuring timely diagnosis and medical advice.
Shri Khara appreciated Basavatarakam- Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute for its noble  efforts and said that the Bank is  proud to be associated with the hospital. He said that the commitment & dedication of the hospital is much more than what the Bank is  doing by this kind of donation.
Shri Khara concluded that this donation will  provide relief to many and it will probably bring happiness to many more. He  extended his  best  wishes for the noble pursuit which is being carried out by the hospital and  said that  as a Responsible Corporate Citizen, SBI will  look forward for such opportunities  going forward.
Sri Amit Jhingran, Chief General Manager during his address spoke about CSR activity in the Circle and the facilities being provided in the mobile cancer screening unit. He said that the SBI Hyderabad Circle has supported CSR initiatives upto  an amount of  Rs 350 lakhs during the current financial year till date. and is committed to spend more .
