Govt not paying crop insurance to farmers: TDP

-No insurance payments to tenant farmers: ex MLA
-Empty hand given to poor farmers

AMARAVATI: TDP former MLA Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy on Thursday accused the Jagan Reddy Government of showing an empty hand to farmers in making payments under the crop insurance scheme.Ramakrishna Reddy said that insurance payments were made to just 15 lakh out of the total 30 lakh eligible farmers in the State.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader said that the Chief Minister was playing betrayal diversionary games with farmers. Tenant farmers have not received the insurance payments at all. Dalit farmers, cultivating society lands, have also not received these payments.

Ramakrishna Reddy asked why the Government did not give crop insurance to poor cultivators belonging to SC, ST, BC, Minority and even upper castes. The list of beneficiaries of crop insurance was not disclosed anywhere.

The TDP leader said that the Chief Minister himself admitted that just 15 lakh farmers were given insurance so far. Jagan Reddy told lies in his Anantapur meeting. His Governmenttdp-raithu1 said in an RTI reply that Rs. 4,007 Cr was paid to farmers under the TDP Government during 2014-`18.

Ramakrishna Reddy said that the TDP regime gave an input subsidy of Rs. 3,750 Cr to farmers but Jagan Reddy gave just Rs. 1,612 Cr. More natural calamities took place under Jagan regime when compared with Chandrababu rule but the YCP rule gave far lesser input subsidy.

The TDP ex MLA deplored that the farmers loan waiver payments were stopped. Farmers produced over 400 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the past three years. But the Government has procured just 220 lakh mt. Farmers had to sell over 180 lakh mt paddy at rates lesser than the MSP.

Ramakrishna Reddy said that if there was Annadata Sukheebhava, the farmers would have got Rs. 15,000. Jagan betrayed farmers by giving just Rs. 7,500 under Rythu Bharosa.
