AMARAVATI: TDP state president K. Atchannaidu on Thursday criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving Cabinet posts to weaker sections only to derive political advantage out of it.
Atchannaidu said while Jagan Reddy was betraying Dalits in the name of social justice, Chandrababu Naidu gave top priority to their welfare programmes. It was Chandrababu who played a key role in making K.R. Narayanan President and G.M.C. Balayogi Lok Sabha Speaker and Prathibha Bharathi Assembly Speaker.
The TDP SC Cell organised the birthday celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in a grand manner at the party central office. Party politburo members Varla Ramaiah, Nakka Ananda Babu, former ministers Peethala Sujatha, Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Parasa Venkata Ratnam and others spoke. SC Cell state president M.S. Raju presided over the meeting.
Objecting to the ruling YSRCP leaders’ comments, the TDP leaders asserted that there was no comparison between Ambedkar and the AP chief minister. How could the father of the constitution be compared with a financial criminal? In the past three years, the Dalits were subjected to all sorts of harassment, atrocities and oppression.
The TDP former ministers said Jagan Reddy has been claiming social justice in the Cabinet formation while suppressing the voice of the Ministers belonging to the weaker sections and backward classes. The welfare programmes implemented during the Chandrababu regime were not taken up in any other State in the country so far.
The Telugu Desam leaders pointed out how Jagan Reddy had removed the foreign education opportunities given to the Dalits during the Chandrababu rule. The TDP strengthened the SC, ST, Minority and BC corporations but the YCP rule turned them into non-entities without an address.
Expressing serious concern, the TDP leaders said Jagan Reddy has increased current charges and placed unbearable burdens on all sections of people. On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu gave 200 units of free power to Dalits in the name of Babu Jagjivan Ram. The weaker sections were deprived of even the freedom of expression ever since the YCP came to power.
The TDP Dalit leaders recalled how the atrocities cases were filed against the Dalits themselves under the Jagan regime. This kind of oppression was not seen in any other part of the country. Jagan Reddy was robbing and bleeding the SC, ST, BC and Minorities by increasing existing taxes, slapping new taxes and causing abnormal price rise all over the State.
