Lokesh calls HC verdict a slap for YCP Govt

-Judgement a huge victory for Amaravati farmers
-Farmers sacrificed ancestral lands for AP Capital
-Jagan should complete Capital as per HC order

AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Thursday described the AP High Court’s latest verdict on the 3 Capitals policy as a ‘slap in the face’ for the YSRCP Government in Andhra Pradesh.
Lokesh asked the Chief Minister and his Ministers to realise at least that the Capital shifting was an atrociou idea that was not acceptable to any section of society in the State.

In a statement here, Lokesh asserted that the latest court judgement was a big moral victory for the agitating Amaravati farmers who have sacrificed their lands for the construction of People’s Capital. These farmers had given away their ancestral property for the sake of constructing a new Capital for all the five crore people of the State but the ruling YCP leaders failed to recognise this truth.

Nara Lokesh recalled how the Capital City farmers went ahead to wage an unrelenting agitation against the ill-motivated decentralisation policy of CM Jagan Reddy. They had gone forward with their protests with the slogan for decentralisation of development but not Capital. These farmers led a courageous fight in the face of fabricated cases, false arrests and physical manhandling by the police.

Lokesh lauded the farmers, women, youth and agricultural coolies who have taken part in the agitation for Amaravati for more than eight hundred days. Amaravati would remain an immortal city. Nobody would be able to sabotage the cause of building a great capital city for the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Condemning the Government’s attitude, Lokesh advised the Chief Minister not to incur the wrath of the people by sticking to his ruthless policies. The ulterior plan to destroy and shift Capital city should be stopped forthwith. The YCP Government should immediately start works to complete Amaravati Capital as per the timeline fixed by the High Court.
