CM afraid of rising wave of solidarity to Amaravati
Lathicharge on farmers foot march condemnable
Police road blockades can’t stop people
AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday slammed the Jaganmohan Reddy Government for ‘conspiring’ to suppress the Amaravati farmers’ ongoing Maha Padayatra in the State.
Naidu said the Chief Minister was apparently afraid of the massive response coming to the Maha Padayatra from all corners of Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP Government was using the police to create hurdles for the Amaravati farmers’ foot march at every step.
In a statement here, the TDP chief pointed out that lakhs of people from all sections of society were voluntarily coming forward to support the Amaravati farmers. The only aim of Maha Padayatra was for Amaravati to be continued as the one and only Capital of AP. The lathicharge on the peaceful Padayatra and on the mediapersons was condemnable and atrocious.
Naidu categorically condemned what he described as the undemocratic and autocratic actions of the Jagan Reddy regime. The suppression of ‘Nyayasthanam to Devasthanam’ Padayatra mirrored the oppression of the ruling YSRCP. The rulers were oblivious of the fact that Amaravati was aimed at creating huge developmental and employment opportunities for all the 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP chief said people of the whole State were favouring the Amaravati farmers but CM Jagan Reddy was running destructive politics with his 3 Capitals plan. The rising wave of public sympathy and support for Amaravati was scaring the ruling YSRCP leaders.
Chandrababu Naidu deplored that the Government suppression began since the day the Maha Padayatra began in Amaravati Capital City area. The police were erecting check posts and blocking the roads to prevent the villagers en route from giving their solidarity to the Amaravati farmers. These politically motivated road blockades were nothing but the hallmark of the ruling YSRCP’s vendetta rule.
Naidu said the orders of the High Court for allowing peaceful conduct of the farmers’ Padayatra were also being violated with impunity. The Government should stop creating obstructions in the path of the Amaravati farmers. The authorities should provide best medical treatment to the farmers who were injured in the Padayatra.
