TDP chief pays tributes to Jyotiba Phule

AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asserted that the backward classes and the Telugu Desam Party had an inseparable bond since the inception of the party.

Naidu pointed out that the BCs enjoyed 34 percent reservations in local bodies for over 26 years only because of the commitment of the TDP to their social cause and political empowerment.

In a statement here, the TDP chief paid rich tributes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on the occasion of his birthday. His life’s dedication for establishing an egalitarian society was unforgettable. He had also strived for the spread of education and women empowerment.

Naidu reiterated that the development of BCs has always been in the DNA of the Telugu Desam Party. With unwavering commitment, the TDP has been making all efforts for political awareness, socio-economic and political progress of the BCs for the past 40 years.

Chandrababu Naidu said nobody would be able to deny the fact that the TDP was always defined as a BCs’ party. It was the TDP which had triggered a nation-wide debate on the significance of the backward classes.

The TDP chief recalled how their party recognised the importance of BCs and gave them VC posts in 9 out of 16 universities. The TDP regime had provided tools and implements to the handicrafts and artisans under the Adarna programme.
