TDP blames CM for Polavaram stalemate

-Jagan cases a curse for AP projects: Ramanaidu
-72% works completed under Naidu rule

AMARAVATI: TDP politburo member and MLA Nimmala Ramanaidu on Tuesday held Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy responsible for the ‘stalemate’ in the works of the State’s lifeline project Polavaram.

Ramanaidu said the CM’s inefficiency and surrender politics had become a curse for the development projects of Andhra Pradesh. In the past three years of Jagan rule, not even three percent of works were completed in Polavaram.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP MLA deplored that the Chief Minister’s CBI and ED cases had become a big hurdle for Polavaram and all Reorganisation promises given for AP. It was unfortunate that Jagan Reddy had stooped so low that he was telling all lies in the Assembly to blame Chandrababu Naidu for the delay in project works.

Ramanaidu recalled how CM Jagan had admitted in the presence of Jal Shakti Minister Shekhawat that just 2.84 percent of the work was completed in two years. To cover up his failures and cheap tricks, the CM was trying to pass the blame on to Chandrababu Naidu. The YCP was using all its tricks to divert the public attention from burning issues like Polavaram deadlock and illicit liquor deaths.

The TDP leader termed it as unpardonable that the ruling YSRCP members were running away from debating public issues in the House. While the TDP was making all out efforts to find solutions for the people’s problems, the CM and his Ministers adopted an escapist tactic. The ruling party was obviously afraid of getting further exposed over its failures regarding Polavaram, liquor scam and so on.

Ramanaidu said the narrow-mindedness of the YSRCP was evident from the fact that they had driven the TDP members out of the House and then made all sorts of false allegations. In just five years, Chandrababu Naidu completed 72 percent of the Polavaram project. Jagan Reddy raised a lot of expectations but eventually crushed the project with his reverse and retendering gimmicks.

The TDP leader said Chandrababu Naidu aimed at keeping Polavaram dam height at 45.72 metres so that it would be possible to store over 194 TMC water. If the dam height was reduced to 41.15 metres, the storage capacity would come down to just 119 TMC. The YCP Government’s policies would cause such losses to the AP farmers that future generations would not forgive Jagan Mohan Reddy.
