AMARAVATI: TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh on Thursday held the ruling YSRCP leaders responsible for the latest suicide of a 10th class muslim Minority girl at Palamaner in Chittoor district.
Lokesh demanded the Jagan Reddy Government to take immediate and stringent action against YSRCP leader Sunil and Brahmarshi school principal for abetting minority girl Misbah to take the extreme step.
In a statement here, the TDP MLC said the local YSRCP leaders started harassing the muslim girl just because she was standing top in her class. YCP leader Sunil wanted his daughter Poojitha to become class topper. He was also upset that Misbah was performing far better despite being the daughter of daily wage coolies Nazir Ahmad and Naseema.
Lokesh termed it as ‘inhuman’ on the part of the YCP leaders to terrify the minority girl by using threats and intimidation. They stooped to the level of humiliating her by saying that she did not need studies and marks considering her poor background. They commented how her parents were living by selling ‘goli soda’ bottles in the streets.
Nara Lokesh deplored that Misbah was driven out of the school eventually. She was so afraid that she did not even join another school, fearing that the YCP leaders would continue their harassment. The meritorious girl got caught in the grip of constant fear that YCP leader Sunil and Principal would target her forever. Their threats had thrown her into despair and depression.
Decrying the incident, Lokesh asserted that it was due to YCP leader’s threats that the minority girl eventually committed suicide. Humiliating her and terminating her from school for no fault of hers was highly condemnable. Stringent punishment should be given to those responsible for her death. A bright girl student’s life was cut short abruptly because of the arrogance and harassment of the ruling party leaders.
The TDP MLC said there was no safety to the lives of weaker sections and Minorities under the atrocious YCP regime. He recalled how the ruling YSRCP leaders used the police to victimise and terrorise Abdul Salaam in Nandyal in the past. They even threatened to spoil his wife and destroy his children. These threats abetted Salaam and his wife and two children to go and fall under a running train.
Lokesh slammed the Chief Minister for causing so much suffering to the weaker sections and backward classes after coming to power. Dalit doctor Dr. Sudhakar was humiliated, harassed, hunted down and branded as insane just for asking for a face mask. Persecution continued till his death. Punganur Dalit youth Om Pratap died in suspicious circumstances after he made social media comments against highly priced hazardous cheap liquor brands.
