Minister KTR announces several measures for the betterment of RGUKT-Basara

Telangana IT, Industries and MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao made five major announcements during his visit to Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) – Basara located in Nirmal District on Monday. This is in addition to the ongoing improvement works at the university.

Addressing students gathered at the auditorium, the Minister said that he will visit the campus again in November along with Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy to distribute laptops to students.

He has requested Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud to construct a mini stadium with Rs 3 crores, which would come up in six to eight months. The remaining three announcements are a state-of-the-art digital lab with 1000 computers, 50 additional model classrooms, an innovation lab, at the university.

The Minister said that while establishing the facilities is an easy task, maintenance is a challenge. He said that students too have the onus to maintain the resources as much as the university does.

He urged the students multiple times to take collective responsibility to maintain the facilities as it is their University. As part of it, he pitched for Shramadhanam once a month.

During his address, he allotted significant time to fill students with the spirit of entrepreneurship. Taking names of globally renowned products and companies such asimage Google, Microsoft, Twitter, Instagram, he asked the students for names of people who invented these products and companies. Then he listed names of Indians who have become CEOs of global companies.

Later, he asked them to name an Indian who invented global products such as Instagram, Yahoo. He asked the students if they want to work for some one, or innovate and create such products.

He detailed how children in India are conditioned right from childhood from the past several decades to study well and secure a job in government, or prominent private companies. The Minister said that parents do not encourage the thought of entrepreneurship from childhood. He has also mentioned that children are discouraged to take risks.

To encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship, he has requested RGUKT Vice Chancellor V Venkata Ramana to establish an innovation lab. And to hold week-long innovation celebrations every year.

Narrating his life as a student, the Minister KTR said that he has lived in seven to eight hostels and knows about challenges faced. He said that the problems at the University are being attended to one after another, and that it is being ensured to maintain highest quality in providing the facilities.

The Minister said that response was not satisfactory for the tenders floated for mess contract, and a sincere effort is being put in to get a good contractor. He has appreciated the students for protesting peacefully, not allowing politicians to get involved, and for forming students council to solve issues on their own.Prior to his speech, the Minister KTRimage-1 had lunch with students and interacted with them about their aspirations, and other topics.

Based on his interaction, the Minister KTR has requested Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy to introduce new age courses at the University. The students have asked for futuristic courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Space Technology, and others to reach high-ranking positions.

The Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Forest and Environment Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy spoke about the efforts put in from the past two months to improve facilities at the university. Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud, and others were present on the occasion.
