TDP politburo blames YCP Govt for flood havoc

Demands white paper on CAG ‘alarming’ comments
Naidu presides over politburo meeting
Demands Rs 25 lakh ex gratia for flood deaths
Higher compensation for crop losses needed
AMARAVATI: The Telugu Desam Party politburo meeting, presided over by former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday held the YSRCP Government’s anti-people policies responsible for the latest flood devastation, financial breakdown and overall administrative failures in the State.
The TDP politburo blamed the sand mafia and ruling YCP elected leaders for preventing timely releases of flood waters that led to breaches to Pincha and Annamayya projects resulting in destruction in 6 villages in Rajampeta in Kadapa district.
Addressing a press conference here, TDP politburo member Kalva Srinivasulu said their party discussed wide-ranging public issues and multiple failures of the Jaganmohan Reddy regime. The Government machinery miserably failed in latest floods. During the visit of Chandrababu Naidu, local people narrated how they would have suffered if the NGOs, philanthropists and local leaders did not extend help.
Listing out the demands made by the TDP politburo, Srinivasulu said that the YCP Government should increase crop compensation in flood hit areas to Rs. 25,000 each for groundnut and paddy, Rs. 30,000 for banana and so on. At least Rs. 1 lakh assistance should be given for house collapses and Rs. 25,000 assistance for each handloom worker’s family.
The TDP politburo demanded Rs. 25 lakh ex gratia for kin of each death in floods and Rs. 1 lakh for serious injured persons. Chandrababu Naidu would write a comprehensive letter to the Chief Secretary on the need for flood relief.
The TDP leaders demanded a white paper on the financial situation in the wake of ‘alarming observations’ made by CAG on the decreasing revenues and financial mismanagement in Andhra Pradesh. The CAG passed worrisome comments based on a comparison of revenues during 2018-`19 and 2019-`20. The CAG also commented on how the AP regime was undermining legislature in its bid to mismanage State finances.
The TDP politburo strongly objected to the Government’s ‘atrocious plan’ to collect Rs. 14,261 Cr from the poor families in the name of one-time settlement (OTS). The poor families should not pay a single rupee as the next Chandrababu Government would ensure free and total rights of possession on these houses. The Jagan regime had no right to collect OTS for 56 lakh houses that were constructed from 1983 to 2017-`18.
The TDP demanded a judicial enquiry into the flood destruction as it was caused due to ‘negligence and unpreparedness’ of the YCP Government. The celebrations of Constitution Day brought to the fore the necessity to fight back and bid farewell to the YCP misrule by taking up awareness programmes on the rights provided by Amebdkar constitution. The TDP would be committed for BC census, one-third posts in legislature and berths in Union Ministry.
The TDP politburo unanimously supported the way Chandrababu Naidu was forced to boycott the Assembly following unsavoury incidents and his press conference later. The TDP leaders and cadres should take the fight forward through a door to door campaign on the need for bringing back visionary and experience Naidu back to power.
