AMARAVATI: TDP anganwadi state president Achanta Sunitha on Tuesday demanded that the YSRCP Government should stop the misinformation campaign against the rightful demands of the agitating anganwadi and asha workers.
Sunitha said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy should resolve all the justifiable demands of the 1.20 lakh anganwadi staff in the State. The Sakshi media was spreading false news when the anganwadi workers were only taking part in peaceful protests to bring pressure on the Government.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader deplored that the YCP regime has neglected women empowerment and women and child welfare initiatives. It was highly objectionable that Sakshi was publishing stories and articles to humiliate and malign the anganwadi staff. The ruling party was targetting all sections when they were exercising their democratic right to protest.
Sunitha said the CM’s wife Bharati was also one of the directors of Sakshi. She was also a woman industrialist. She should better run Sakshi with some credibility instead of continuing its misinformation campaigns against the vulnerable sections. Sakshi was spreading false news that the TDP was behind the agitation of anganwadis.
The TDP leader asked Bharati Reddy to clarify whether or not the Chief Minister made huge promises to the anganwadi staff during his state-wide padayatra before the 2019 elections. What was wrong when the workers came on to the roads to hold protests only to make the Government fulfill its promises? The same anganwadi workers held dharna during the previous regime also. Bharati should explain who organised those protests.
Sunitha accused CM Jagan of trying to malign the anganwadi agitation by getting false stories written in Sakshi. He betrayed the youth by publishing a jobless calendar. The CM made false claims that his Government increased anganwadi salaries from Rs. 7,500 to Rs. 10,500. Only CM Jagan would be capable of making such blatant lies and falsehoods for the sake of cheap political mileage.
The TDP leader asserted that the credit for increasing anganwadi salaries to Rs. 10,500 would go to Chandrababu Naidu. Their salary was just Rs. 500 during Jagan Reddy’s father Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule. Chandrababu issued GO 18 in 2018 to increase the salaries. But now, CM Jagan Reddy was shamelessly trying to get false credit with fake claims.
Sunitha deplored that the YCP regime has miserably failed to ensure women empowerment as not even a single girl or woman got justice under CM Jagan Reddy rule. The TDP appointed Kalyana Mitra, Gopala Mitra and Pasu Mitra workers lost their jobs under the YCP misrule.
The TDP leader demanded that the Government increase anganwadi salaries to Rs. 26,000 and raise their retirement to 62 years. The TDP would stand by the side of protesting anganwadis till their demands were conceded.
