Naidu calls for help to affected families: Gulab storm

Asks partymen to come to rescue of cyclone-hit people
Govt should take advance steps to prevent losses
Need for ensuring uninterrupted power
AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday stressed the need for extending immediate help to the people who were affected in the latest heavy rains under the impact of cyclone Gulab in the State.
Mr. Naidu said that North Andhra and many places in South Coastal districts became inundated with rain waters. Thousands of people became homeless. Heavy rains were still lashing some areas. Crops were damaged badly nearer to the coastline due to strong, gusty winds under the influence of the cyclone.
In a statement here, the TDP chief called upon the party cadres and leaders to come to the rescue of the displaced and affected people in the cyclone rains. They should provide essential commodities to the needy families. Where needed, the affected families in low-lying and inundated localities should be shifted to safer places. Help and assistance should be extended to the cyclone-hit families in every way possible.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that the Government should remain alert and initiate timely measures in view of the damage caused by the Gulab cyclone. All required steps should be initiated to rescue the people residing in the low-lying areas in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam. Immediate measures should be taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of power. Advance steps should be taken to prevent losses and damage to the people.
