TDP panel decries ‘indifference’ of DGP

Demands action against Kodali Nani
TDP fact-finding panel complains at DGP office

AMARAVATI: The six-member fact-finding committee of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) strongly criticised the DGP for not giving them appointment to personally submit a memorandum on the ‘illegal casino’ held by Minister Kodali Nanid and his henchmen in Gudivada.

The TDP panel members, including Varla Ramaiah, Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Kollu Ravindra and others, demanded that the DGP should enquire and take strong action against the Minister. Kodali Nani himself admitted that the indecent dances were held and that he had informed the Gudivada police. What more evidence was required to take up a detailed probe.

The TDP committee members decried that they were not allowed to go inside the DGP office to submit their memorandum. They were made to stand in the middle of the road to hand over a memorandum to the additional SP there. This kind of police indifference had never happened before in the history of Andhra Pradesh. From day one, the police have been hindering the fact-finding panel’s efforts to collect facts about the casino organizers.

Later, speaking to the mediapersons, Ramaiah, Rajendra Prasad and Kollu Ravindra said the police were acting like puppets in the hands of the ruling YSRCP. They were openly saying that they would not give appointments since the TDP was saying they did not have trust in the AP police. CM Jagan Reddy had also said in the past that he did not trust the police in the ‘Kodi Kathi attempt to murder case’.

Ramaiah deplored that under the leadership of DGP Gautam Sawang, the AP Police have been implementing the Jagan Reddy Act but not the Police Act. On January 17 itself, the TDP gave a complaint to the Krishna District SP but there was no action. Not a single person has been arrested so far.

The TDP leader said that when their fact finding committee was traveling from Vijayawada to Gudivada, the police created hurdles all along the route. In Gudivada town, the TDP panel members were attacked, a car was vandalized and the TDP town office was ransacked. All this happened right under the nose of the police. The DIG concerned wrongly advised the TDP panel to complain to the Gudivada police when the complaint was regarding their unlawful activities only.

Rajendra Prasad said by not giving appointment to the TDP panel, the DGP showed once again how the police were biased against the opposition leaders. The voice of the TDP was being stifled at every step. Everybody knew that the Minister was the mastermind behind the Gudivada casino but there was no action so far. There was no security even in the surroundings of the DGP office considering how the TDP central office was vandalized and ransacked in the past.
