-CM did not give Amma Vodi last year: Pattabhi
-Rs 500 Cr fraud likely in Byju’s programme
AMARAVATI: TDP national official spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram on Monday slammed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for making ‘false claims’ on the Amma Vodi programme in the State. Pattabhi Ram demanded the Chief Minister to explain why he did not press the button last to give Rs. 6,107 Cr to mothers as per the budget allocation for 2021-`22.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader strongly objected to Jagan Reddy making a ‘long speech’ after pressing the Amma Vodi button in Srikakulam to give Rs. 6,595 Cr benefit. Instead of that, the CM should have given his clarification on denial of this benefit to nearly half of the total 82 lakh students.
Pattabhi Ram recalled how Jagan Reddy promised in his plenary speech in July, 2017, that his party would give Rs 24,000 to a mother having two children studying intermediate. Rs. 18,000 would be given to each mother having two children studying 6th to 10th. Jagan’s wife Bharathi Reddy promised to give Rs. 30,000 to each mother having two studying children.
The TDP leader asked why Jagan Reddy was criticising Chandrababu Naidu, Radha Krishna and Ramoji Rao instead of sincerely implementing his pre-poll promises. Was it not a fact that Jagan promised Amma Vodi to each student but restricted it to just each mother after coming to power?
Pattabhi Ram said that Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said in his budget speech that Rs. 6,107 Cr would be given to 44 lakh students under Amma Vodi during 2021-`22. But, the Chief Minister never pressed the button to transfer this amount to the mothers.
The TDP leader said that Jagan Reddy offered to take care of children like a ‘mena mama’ (paternal uncle) but he eventually turned into a ‘kamsa mama’ (evil uncle). The CM should clarify on the widespread allegations that he was giving less under Amma Vodi and taking back much more from poor families through Nanna Buddi (cheap liquor).
Pattabhi Ram warned that the TDP would agitate and expose the Jagan regime’s bid to commit Rs. 500 Cr fraud in the name of Byju’s programme. AP lagged behind in all parameters under the National Achievement Survey. Jagan Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana should answer why 2 lakh students failed in 10th exam.
