TDP Mahila call to end ‘atrocious’ YCP rule

Naari Sankalpa Deeksha held at TDP central office
Women faced 1,500 atrocities in two and half years
Jagan took U-turn on liquor prohibition promise

AMARAVATI: TDP Telugu Mahila wing held a State level ‘Naari Sankalpa Deeksha’ (women’s resolve) at the party central office here on Monday in response to party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s call to revolt against the anti-women policies of the Jaganmohan Reddy regime.TDP women representatives, parliamentary incharges and local leaders from all over the State took part in the day-long Sankalpa Deeksha.

The TDP leaders warned the Government that they would further step up their agitation against the atrocities and attacks being made on the women. After Jagan Reddy became the Chief Minister, all sections of people came under attack. Women were not able to sleep peacefully because of the anarchic policies of the Chief Minister.

Telugu Mahila state president Vangalapudi Anitha gave a call to every woman to come out and fight for their rights. The time has come for women to fight unitedly for their common protection and safety. It was laudable that women in large numbers were taking part in Sankalpa Deeksha with a resolve to end the corrupt regime of Jaganmohan Reddy.

Anitha recalled how the CM went on giving kisses to all sections of women during his pre-election padayatra. But, after winning the 2019 election, he turned totally indifferent and started giving blows to everybody. The women had waited for over two and half years for the CM to fulfill his promises. Having lost their patience, they have taken to the agitation path.

Expressing concern, the TDP leader said it became a routine for Jaganmohan Reddy to put women to emotional blackmail. He has been playing emotional games with the poor women. He promised to implement prohibition immediately after forming the Government. The scene has reversed now. Liquor has become the source of revenue for the Government and illegal income for the ruling party leadership.

Anitha deplored that the Government was playing dangerous games with the lives of drinkers by selling them life-threatening harmful liquor brands. The CM broke his promise and started ruining the poor households with his atrocious liquor policy. All schemes were being used to fill the pockets of Jagan Reddy, his party leaders and their benamis.

Some TDP leaders, who spoke on the occasion, said the ruling YCP leaders and Women’s Commission Chairperson tried for political advantage but did not punish the culprit in the Vijayawada girl suicide. In just two and half years, over 1,500 atrocities were committed on girls and women. The Woman Home Minister was not able to speak boldly when these atrocities were perpetrated on women.

The TDP leaders asked why ‘neither Jagan nor gun’ were coming to rescue victims of atrocities on women. There were countless victims like Anusha in Narasaraopet, Tejaswini in Vijayawada, Nagamma in Pulivendula, Lakshmi in Visakha and Snehalatha in Anantapur. Skyrocketing prices were making women unable to cook favourite dishes for their children. Additional burdens were being imposed in the name of OTS for houses that were built under other Governments.
