-‘Naidu fighting for women, Jagan oppressing victims’
-Vasireddy Padma slammed for protecting ‘YCP culprits’
-Notices served on Naidu but not culprits
-‘Ooriko Unmadi’ book handed over to Padma
AMARAVATI: The TDP MLAs, leaders and cadre took out rallies across the State on Wednesday in protest against the Jagan Reddy Government’s ‘failure’ to curb atrocities on women in the past three years.
The TDP leaders raised slogans and asserted that while Chandrababu Naidu was fighting on behalf of the women victims, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was solely focusing on political vendetta and suppression of all questioning voices.
Holding banners and placards, the TDP cadre staged protest demonstrations in Vijayawada, Guntur, Anakapalli, Chittoor, Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Rayadurg, Konaseema, P. Gannavaram, Kurnool, Adoni and other places. They deplored that Andhra Pradesh has turned into Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in terms of rising atrocities under the YCP rule.
The opposition leaders asked why AP Women’s Commission chairperson Vasireddy Padma gave notices to Chandrababu Naidu when he was just seeking justice for the victimised women. Padma should explain to the public why she did not give notices to the culprits in over 800 cases of atrocities on women and girls in the State.
TDP Telugu Mahila state president Vangalapudi Anitha and scores of party activists held protests at the Women’s Commission. The parents of the gang-raped mentally challenged girl at Vijayawada GGH were also present in the protest. They gave memoranda to Vasireddy Padma, demanding justice to the victim who was raped in the GGH premises for thirty hours by three persons.
Anitha handed over a copy of the TDP book titled ‘Ooriko Unmadi – Jagan Palanalo’ (a maniac in every village under Jagan rule) to Vasireddy Padma, urging her to do justice to the women victims in all 800 atrocities. She asked Padma to explain to the public how many culprits she had served notices in all these cases so far?
The TDP women leaders accused Vasireddy Padma of acting like a puppet for the ruling YSRCP but not rescuing the women victims. Padma had served notices to Chandrbabau Naidu and Bonda Uma only out of an ulterior political agenda. Being the chairperson of Women’s Commission, Padma should have risen above political considerations to ensure justice to all women.
The TDP accused Vasireddy Padma of failing to ensure justice to the family of the Vijayawada GGH gang-rape victim even now. The TDP would step up its agitation on behalf of women victims of atrocities if the Women’s Commission continued to protect the ruling YSRCP culprits.
