TDP urges Centre to prevent ‘bankruptcy’ of AP

-Centre should come to the rescue of AP people: Butchaiah
-High interest loans and price rise a big concern

AMARAVATI: TDP senior leader and MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary on Tuesday urged the Central Government to rescue the people of Andhra Pradesh from the deepening financial crisis, steep price rise and impending bankruptcy.
Butchaiah Chowdary said the Centre should take immediate action based on the reports of the CAG and the RBI regarding high interest loans and gross financial mismanagement in AP.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP MLA expressed concern that the AP people would soon face a dark and uncertain future if the YSRCP Government was not stopped from destroying the State economy. The Governor should stop blindly giving his approvals for loans considering the misuse of Rs. 45,000 Cr public funds by the YCP regime without showing any bills.

Butchaiah Chowdary pointed out that the AP debt rose to Rs. 7.76 Lakh Cr while the Government was not able to pay salaries and pensions in time. Thousands of crores payments were not being made to the contractors, who were unwilling to take up new works. Even the Coronavirus pandemic was used to bring massive loans and Central funds only for diversion for the ruling party frauds.

The TDP MLA said just like in Sri Lanka, the prices of fuel, edible oil and essential commodities rose steeply in AP. In addition to this, power cuts dealt a blow to the common public and the industry. Jagan Reddy’s vengeful and corrupt policies have crushed the power sector. The Government mismanaged PPAs and coal supplies, leading to a situation where it had to buy power at Rs. 18 per unit.

Butchaiah Chowdary said Jagan Reddy’s move to transfer cash in place of PDS rice would give a severe setback to the concept of food security. NTR brought Rs. 2 kg rice scheme to ensure food safety of the poor people. The Centre decided to directly deal with NREGS funds in AP because of the YCP Government’s bankrupt policies.

The TDP leader asserted that the High Court of AP should file a suo motu case to nab the real culprits in the theft of documentary evidence from the Nellore court. The Nellore SP was telling false stories without taking the investigation to a logical conclusion.
